Hi I'm Rick

I am a Mormon. I grew up in the Salt Lake Valley in Utah. I worked in the Grocery business for most of my life. I am now retired.

About Me

I am a husband, a father and a grandfather. I enjoy each member of my family. It is amazing to me that we are all so different in our abilities and talents. I enjoy sharing my testimony of The Savior with my family and others who I know. I love the outdoors and try to hike, travel, sightsee, and meet others who have similar interests as often as I can. For years I was an avid snow skier in northern Utah. Now I am more into target shooting and sometimes I go hunting in the fall. I am interested in what I can learn from others and about the knowledge they have accumulated from their life experiences. I enjoy my new part time job driving cars for a Ford dealer. It is fun to experience many different kinds of cars and trucks while traveling around the state.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family of Mormons. My ancestors were pioneers who loved the Gospel of Christ enough to leave their homes and move to the Salt Lake Valley. I was taught the gospel in my youth and I served in several callings in the church before I even graduated High School. I was somewhat rebellious and struggled with being obedient when I was a teen. I finally earnestly read and prayed about The Book of Mormon when I was 18. It did not all come at once, but I received a spiritual witness that this was truly the word of God along with The Holy Bible. I also knew that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. Since then, I have tried to be obedient and follow the commandments and the Prophets. As I have done so I have been blessed. I married my sweetheart many years ago and our marriage has been a strength to me and to my testimony. We study and pray together and she regularly testifies to me of her love of the Gospel and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Our marriage and our testimony has gotten us through several tough times in our lives. The blessings have been great and many. As we continue to serve the Lord, we look forward to the day when he returns and we find joy in the knowledge that he will.

How I live my faith

I love my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (The Mormons). I get to teach a class in Sunday School every other Sunday about The New Testament this year. I am sure that I learn more about the subject than many of the members who attend my class. I study and meditate daily about the subject as I prepare to teach. Of course, prayer plays a big part in my preparation. This Sunday I will be teaching from the books of Acts and Thessalonians. I also enjoy interacting with the many members of my church. I see most of them on Sunday but I also see many of them during the week. I feel a great strength from the faithful people that I am associated with. There are many neighbors that I have who are not members of my church whose company I also enjoy. There are good people everywhere. I think that we get a glimpse into the goodness of our Father in Heaven whenever we see the goodness in others.
