Hi I'm Kaylynn

I grew up in Houston, Texas and have lived in Bogota, Colombia and Muscat, Oman. I will live in Ecuador soon. I am a Mormon :)

About Me

I am about to serve a mission for the LDS church in Ecuador. I am excited to go back to South America and become fluent in the language. I finished one year at Utah State University studying Plant Science Research and I love it!! I am so excited that my mission includes the Galapagos Islands because I am interested in its nature :) I was hoping the Middle East would be open to missionaries because I loved living in Oman and being able to experience the culture and nature firsthand. Although I have lived many places, I am a Texan and always will be!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am converted. I was blessed to grow up in a family that attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all my life. However, I needed to have my own testimony that it is true, and I DO!! That is why I want to go on a mission, to share my testimony of the restored church on the earth. This church is lead by a living Prophet and 12 Apostles that receive revelation from God to direct us. I know the Book of Mormon to be true. I have read it countless times and always feel peace and comfort when I read it. I have received answers to prayers through that book and I know that it adds to the teachings of the Bible. I also have a testimony of the temple. In the temple we do work, like baptisms, for our ancestors who were not baptized into this church. That way, they can progress in the spirit world. In the temple my worries are taken away and I always feel peace and God's love for me and his children. I know that going to church each week and serving in a calling at church is very important and gives you blessings and strength to conquer what life throws at you. I have seen this in my own life. Sitting in services at church and a speaker says something that touches me, is an answer that I need, or just gives me reassurance that everything is going to be ok, is such a relief. None of us are perfect, but we are all striving to be perfect. I know that Christ suffered for my sins so that if I repent I don't have to suffer. This is made possible by Christ's infinite Atonement. I know that Christ conquered death by resurrecting after he was crucified. This gives me comfort to know that when I die I will be resurrected like Christ was. I know that there is an after life and that we need to strive to do and be our best so that we can live with our loving Heavenly Father and our brother Jesus Christ!!

How I live my faith

Where ever I have lived, especially abroad, I made it a conscious effort to watch my actions because I wanted to portray accurately what a Mormon was. I wanted to be the best example I could be because I could be the only Mormon they ever met or knew. I wanted my actions to reflect my true character and who I am trying to be like-Jesus Christ. This meant that I had to sacrifice my social life by not going to parties I didn't feel good about and by not going to Senior Prom on the Sabbath day. In Oman at the After Grad party, it was really cool to see my faithful Muslim friends not drink the alcohol either. Our religions are similar in many ways!! I go to church every Sunday and while I was at USU I served as the Visiting Teaching coordinator. I made sure that the ladies in my church were visited by friends each month to give them an uplifting message and help with their needs. Currently, I am preparing to serve a mission where I will sacrifice 18 months of my live to serve the Lord by inviting others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.
