Hi I'm Dallin

I'm majoring in Biochemistry. I love classical music and fitness. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I’m a missionary in the China, Hong Kong Mission. When I get back, I will attend BYU, double majoring in Chinese and Biochemistry. I love learning and understanding things. In high school, I enjoyed classes like economics and music theory because I enjoyed learning about the rules and patterns that described how things work. I love studying science not only because it has that element of understanding the workings of a system, but also because the systems and laws that natural science looks at are purely the creations of God. Along with learning, I enjoy playing piano and viola. I mostly enjoy classical music. I’m also an avid runner and outdoors enthusiast.

Why I am a Mormon

I’m a Mormon, because it’s the true church. I’ve come to know this by following the counsel that Christ gave in the Bible in John 7:17 which says: “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” As I’ve lived according to the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have learned for myself that this church contains the fullness of Christ’s true gospel. I have read the book of Mormon many times and have followed the direction given by a prophet to test its truthfulness by praying about it. I have been answered unmistakably that it is true. Living its teachings has blessed my life and brought me closer to Christ. It is this witness that has helped me through the hardest times of my life. Since I know the book of Mormon to be true, it’s only logical to believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Church he has established is God’s true Church. I have also prayed to know each of these truths and I’ve received spiritual confirmation that they too are correct. Along with knowing the truthfulness of the Church, I am also a Mormon because it brings me so much happiness and peace. This too is a testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since the Savior said, “by their fruits ye shall know them”. The fruits of this Church in my life have been good.

How I live my faith

I get to live my faith by serving the Lord 24/7 as a missionary! Since the gospel is all about becoming more like Christ, just about everything I do could fit into the category of living my faith if I do it with that goal. That was true even before my mission. I view my mind and my body as gifts that God expects me to magnify and take care of, so I exercise and study to honor Him. When I try to be kinder or serve others more, it brings me closer to God. The church is great because it provides guidance and help in improving. Through high school I participated in a church program called seminary. It was a class on the scriptures held before school every day for high school students. Going to that class and reading whatever scriptures we were studying that year helped me get through those years. In my personal life, I read the scriptures and pray daily, both on my own and together with my family. I attend church every Sunday and fast once a month. I pay tithing on my income. I try to be honest, kind, forgiving, among other Christian traits. I avoid things that would hurt me either spiritually or physically such as drugs or excessively violent entertainment. All these things help me become a more Christlike person and qualify me to receive blessings that the Lord promises to the obedient such as wisdom, peace, and personal revelation to guide me in making important decisions. I live my faith by becoming more like the perfect person God wants me to be.
