Hi I'm Sister River Schiffman

I love family, animals, and my Savior Jesus Christ. Serving in the Arizona Tempe mission Spanish Speaking October 26, 2016.

About Me

I grew up on the back of a horse, I am an up and coming archer, I like working on cars and doing things outside. I am a daughter and a student, soon to be a full time missionary. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this is Christ's gospel. In middle school, I was shy to the point of depression. I felt so hopeless and lost. One day my friend invited me to come to church with her. (Honestly at first, I just went because her cousin was cute and I knew he would be there... shhh!) An amazing thing happened though, I listened to what the speakers and leaders were saying and it rang truth in my ears. I tried praying and started reading the scriptures and the darkness that was over my life began to be pushed out by the light of Christ. It has been over 5 years since I first went with my friend and as I have become more involved with this church and practiced more of it's teachings, I have watched myself turn into a completely different person. I love the girl Christ has shaped me into and I look forward to seeing what else He has in mind for me!

How I live my faith

I love talking to people and making them smile. Reaching out to random people and smiling or waving is really not random at all. Heavenly Father has us cross paths with people throughout the day for a reason, and I want to make it a happy crossing!

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Sister River Schiffman
The purpose of this life is to experience living in a physical body and grow from those experiences to become more like our Father in Heaven. "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience." -Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. We were given spirits, and we were given bodies, this is the time to figure out how to make these two blessings work together. We are preparing for eternal life! (Isn't that so exciting?!) Part of eternal life is the family, it is our responsibility to use our agency to form families and make temple covenants before the Lord. We never try to change others, but instead we strive to change ourselves into a Christlike person. Show more Show less
