Hi I'm Rion

I grew up in Oregon but lived in 10 states & served a mission to Quebec Canada. I was the CEO of a public company & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of six children. My parents joined the church after they were married and had four children. I grew up in Oregon, however we moved around a lot as kids. I went to three high schools in three states in three years. I had a great childhood full of freedom and adventure in the countryside where we lived. I have been married 30 years to a wonderful wife and we have 5 children. We both served missions and all of our five children have or are serving missions for the church. My career in corporate finance took me all over the world and provided me with a great perspective on the challenges people face throughout the world. I was a senior executive with a future 50 company and the CEO of a mid market financial services company. We have lived in fives states while raising our family which has brought us together and taught us the importance and value of a strong family. We have had many adventures traveling and enjoying sports together.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it is the Church of Jesus Christ restored on the earth in these latter days. I know that God loves me and he wants me to return home to live with him. I know that through living gospel principles and repentance I will someday be able to enter into his presence again. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that there is no other book on the earth that will bring me closer to him or help me more to understand his love for me and how to live worthily to return home. I have no greater aspiration than to help others come to a knowledge of the truth contained with in the gospel of Jesus Christ where they can find true and lasting peace and happiness.

How I live my faith

We live our faith by serving others each and everyday. My wife and me, as well as all our children have served or are serving full time missions for the Church. I have served as a Bishop in the Church as well as a Bishop's Counselor, Young Men's President and any calling which the Lord has called me to. After having had a successful career, I retired early at the age of 51 so that we could continue to serve our Heavenly Father and his children. After retiring, my wife and I served a Church Service Mission as Managers of the Bishop's Storehouse for a year. The Bishop Storehouse is a food bank for those in need. After completing that assignment we submitted our mission paper work again and have just been called to serve in the Africa Southeast Area. We will be departing for Africa in 54 days.
