Hi I'm Susan West

I'm a daughter, sister, wife, mom to 5, grandma to 15 and I love being a Mormon

About Me

I really love being a women. I recently quit my job of 13 years and sometimes wonder if that was the right thing to do but most of the time feel so good about not working. I have 15 grandchildren which keeps my life full of all the things I love doing. Even though we have family members not living the gospel we are a very close loving family. I enjoy camp outs, reading, being a gospel doctrine teacher, riding my bike, movies, talking to my mom on the phone, traveling, and spending time as a family. I have been recently trying to lose weight and working out. Its been a struggle but anything worth obtaining usually is.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had many trial through my life and with each trial the one thing that helped me get through it was knowing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I thank my dad for my testimony. One day after fast and testimony meeting my dad who was in the Bishopric at the time said he wonder why people bearing their testimonies say they know the church is true instead of believe its true because how could they really know. My dad was a convert and had a difficult time with the Joseph Smith story. At the time I thought he was just encouraging me to get a personal testimony of the church. Later I realized he himself did not have one, like many he believed it was true but for some reason did not believe he could receive personal revelation of the truth. But still he put the fire under me and for the next month I fasted and prayed for an answer that would be clear and one I couldn't doubt. My answer came to me while I was in my bedroom I heard a voice that said the church is true. I turned around to see who was there but there was no one. I fell on my knees and thanked my Heavenly Father for answering my prayers. That testimony has brought me so much comfort and strength. There is a purpose to our lives and that purpose is to live in a way that will get us back to our Heavenly Father. The church is the conveyance that will carry us back.

How I live my faith

I try daily to live my faith and every day I fail. I will not give up though because its that important to me. I love to serve in church by teaching lessons, preparing meals, helping others, and sharing my testimony. I try each morning to fill myself with love and pray that my Savior will be near me to help me follow his example.
