Hi I'm Jacqueline Gutierez

I was born in Mexico, I am bilingual, I love to dance, I love to spend time with my family, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My parents decided to move from Mexico City in 2004 for a better education for my siblings and I. It was hard learning a new language and understanding a different culture. Moving from a different country has been the hardest thing my family and I have been through, but by far the greatest blessing. We have grown closer together, and have learned so much about each other. I am the oldest of three, I just graduated high school and I'm getting ready to serve in the Texas Houston mission. After my mission I will be attending college and studying family and consumer sciences, and hopefully I'll find a cute returned missionary to marry and start a family with. I love to do Zumba, and dance Cumbia, and Bachata. My favorite season is fall because I love how the trees change color and the leaves fall, plus it's my birthday! My favorite days are when we spend time as family whether it be going somewhere or just playing games together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church, so I have always been a member. I never had to completely change my life to join the church. However, I still had to convert to the gospel, and find out for myself if it was true. I never doubted the church was true, but I don't think I knew for certain that it was. I just went through the daily motions of prayer and reading my scriptures. When I was fifteen I was reading the Book of Mormon for the second time, when I finished it I decided to pray to know if the book was real, if the church was true, and if Joseph Smith really saw God and Christ. I prayed. I was disappointed I didn't get an awesome answer like angels coming down and singing to me. But as I was praying I felt good, I felt happy, and I started to cry. I also heard a voice saying, "Jackie, you know it's true, you've always know." I did, and I do, know it's all true. I know that Joseph Smith did have the first vision, he translated the Book of Mormon, and restored the church. I know Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father knows me personally, they love me just as much as they love you. I know my Father in Heaven is a king, and I am His princess, with the potential of becoming a Queen just like my Heavenly Mother. I know Jesus died for all of us, and it makes me so happy to know that he loved me enough to die for me, and I am so grateful he did it because now I can be forgiven and return to live with Him again. I share these things with you in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve others, even though I'm only 18. I have been in the young womens presidency, as a counselor and a secretary. Young womens is a program for girls 12-18 years of age and we have other leaders teach our lessons, and we have activities geared to our age group. We also have a program that's called Personal Progress, where we have eight values and we have six different activities for each value, and then a ten hour project we must finish before we can pass off the value. I have helped younger and older girls finish this program, and have loved seeing myself grow and the other girls thanks to Personal Progress. I have also had the opportunity to plan girls camp for 200+ girls. Girls camp is a week long camp where all the girls and some leaders go to the mountain to get away from the world, and we have spiritual activities where we help them understand who they are as daughters of God, where they come from, and who they can become. We also do lots of fun activities to help them get new friends, and get out of their comfort zone a little bit. This has been the best thing I have had the privilege to be a part of.
