Hi I'm Gemma

One of the best things to happen to me was discovering the book of Mormon.

About Me

I love to spend time curled up on my sofa with my three kittys watching television, mostly period dramas but I also enjoy sc-fi and fantasy. I cross stitch, craft various things including sock monkeys and blankets currently working on a dress! I love paper craft and scrapbooking, colouring in those adult colouring books and gaming. I was blessed to be able to marry my best friend and have two beautiful girls. I suffer with a chronich illness known as Fibromyalgia but also with symptoms of Lupus, though I try not to let it effect my life too much. I have the most amazing friends and family anyone could ask for, they understand me for me and who I am, not trying to make me be someone I am not. I love going for walks in wooded areas with pretty flowers and butterflies, my favourite animals are Bats, cats and butterflies... or anything pretty and fluffy. I like shiney sparkly things and tend to soend most of my time in my own little world, though that world is growing bigger and bigger as I let the gospel in :)

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I got this question a lot when I announced I was going to be Baptised, though a little shocked my family and friends where not too surprised by my decision. It started when I met my husband and he shared with me his experiences from being a Latter-Day Saint, that was it. My mind starting racing and the more I found out, the more I wanted to know. I had been searching for the gospel and Jesus Christ my whole life but nothing ever felt like it was all there or translated in a way that did not seem right to me. Something was missing. I got excited as I learnt, never before had I felt such a want and a need to discover more. Things started to come on television about missionaries and I found myself reacting in such a way my husband said I was acting like a member, it was then that I started to gather the courage to really press forward. My social anxiety was through the roof as I searched more online, I started seeing missionaries in my area but was too scared to go over. One night I came across Mormon.org and saw a little button that said chat, the first night I froze and shut everything down. The second night though I managed to get to type with two lovely missionaries and my life started to change. From here I was connected to my local missionaries whom invited me to come to Church one Sunday, so I did and I loved it! I went in shaking like a leaf and came out smiling wanting to go again. 6 weeks later I was baptised and my life changed for the better. I study hard and love reading my scriptures. I believe Joseph Smith was a prophet guided by Heavenly Father to restore the Church and the Gospel. I believe in Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ whom attoned for our sins. I believe in the book of Mormon, I sustain our leaders and living Prophet today Thomas S. Monson. I am proud to be a memeber of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My life would still be a very dark place without it. Know it, live it, love it.

How I live my faith

I love my faith! I am dedicated to helping my community and ward as much as I can. I currently run a paper craft club open to members and non-members. My calling is homemaking, which means I get to help organise the events within the ward. These events include things like picnics, garden parties, trips to places such as the Red Cone Glass House. I really enjoy this calling and love making the decorations and invites that I then hand out to others. I also have visiting teaching where I get to go to other members and share a message with them. It is a great way to get to know people around you within the ward and I have grown closer to people because of it.
