Hi I'm Sage

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student with both a humanities and a science major. I am grateful I can study both of my passions, even though they are very different, because I love learning about chemistry and being in a lab as much as I love reading literature and thinking deeply about the world we live in. I spend a lot of time tutoring and babysitting, and love working with children. I grew up in Utah, and am always up for a hike. I enjoy playing volleyball, reading, and making music. And I am putting a pause on all of this for the next 18 months to serve as a full-time missionary in the Missouri St Louis mission!

Why I am a Mormon

My grandad met a Mormon when he was in the Navy. He read the Book of Mormon, and couldn't deny the Spirit he felt. He was baptized, and a few years after he married my grandmother, she was baptized, too. They raised my dad and his sisters in the church. My mom was raised Catholic and met my dad in college. She noticed he was different, and wanted to know why. She learned more about the church, and was baptized. Just over a year later, my parents were married in the temple. Because of them, my siblings and I grew up in the church. I love the gospel. I think the Plan of Salvation is so rich and simple and beautiful. I love reading stories about Jesus, and I feel happy when I go to church. I love the music and the community. But my testimony is more than just the affection and admiration I have for the church. I know that Jesus Christ lives, and that this is His restored church on the earth today. I have experienced the increase in power and peace in my life that comes from learning the gospel and living by its teachings. I know that President Russel M. Nelson is the Lord's living prophet and there is power that comes from heeding his counsel. I am a Mormon because I cannot deny the difference I feel in my life when I trust God and live in harmony with the gospel. I am a Mormon because I have seen the difference the gospel has made in the lives of my family.

How I live my faith

I try to be very deliberate about how I live my faith as a reminder that Jesus Christ is the reason for the hope that is in me. When I pray, I remind myself that God is my Heavenly Father, and just like my dad on earth, He loves me and wants to hear how I'm feeling and what I'm worried about and what I liked about my day. When I read my scriptures, I remind myself that these are sacred records that have been cherished and passed down for generations because they testify of the Savior. I try to remember that every person I meet is also a child of God, and when I remember that, I find it easier to be patient and kind. I keep the commandments to show my Father in Heaven that I love Him and I believe His words. I am open about my faith with anyone who asks, and try to show it through the service I give, too.
