Hi I'm Ryan Esmay

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. The prInciples I've come to learn in this church are great, they lead to lasting joy.

About Me

I was raised in the church and I have always been active, but the decision to serve a mission came from nobody but me. It was easy to say I would serve one when all of my friends were, but when I started the process of filling out my paperwork, I realized I had to make this decision for myself. I have felt the spirit testify to me the truthfulness of this gospel, I would not be making this enormous commitment if I didn't completely know that this is what I need to do. I love this gospel and the joy it brings into my life, I love that I can be forgiven of my sins and one day live with my father in heaven.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of how happy it makes me. I know what it feels like to be disconnected from the spirit, and it simply cannot compare to when I have the spirit with me. Everything I have learned from this church is uplifting, character building and morally right- it is the true path to lasting happiness. I want to share the feeling of peace that I have with everybody that I can.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by looking for opportunities to serve others. The main thing Christ was known for while he was on this earth was his humility and willingness to serve the people around him. I show to him that I love him by following his example and doing whatever I can to make others happy. Service is the essence of this gospel and I try to show my faith by serving in whatever way the Lord wants me to.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Our Heavenly Father wants us to always be alert and have healthy minds. When the word of wisdom doctrine was first introduced, tobacco was commonplace- it was years later that everybody accepted that tobacco is bad for you. We have been asked to stay away from any substances that are harmful, and we are also expected to have faith in our Heavenly Father, heeding his counsel through our prophet. Even if some parts of the Word of Wisdom don't make sense to you, God knows all things and if we have faith in him we will be blessed. Show more Show less
