Hi I'm Alexa

I am moving to another state for 18 months to share the gospel simply because the Lord wants me to. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised LDS. My parents were divorced and remarried by the time I was a freshman in high school. About 3 years ago, I lost my father in a tragic car accident after we suffered many years to help him battle his alcohol addiction. I have 2 amazing brothers and a mother that has now overcome stage 3 and stage 4 breast cancer (2 different times). I graduated with my Bachelor's in Community Health in December 2012. This year, I applied and was accepted to a Master's program for Marriage and Family Therapy in California. However, I will be leaving for Cincinnati, Ohio in a month to serve a full time mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of agency. Many might see our religion as rather strict, but all of the guidelines we are given come directly from God; they are set in place to bring us the most joy and fulfillment that this life can offer. We are given direction and rules, but it is up to us if we want to live by them. I continue to follow the gospel because of the feeling that I get when I am at church or sharing my testimony or listening to others' testimonies. When I use my agency to attend church meetings weekly and through daily scripture study, my testimony is consistently and frequently renewed.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing everything I can to be in-tune with the spirit at all times. You never know when the Lord will need to speak to you. Up until about a month ago, my intentions were to move to California to start a Master's program. I had felt that it was the right decision, but i knew that something was missing. I had seriously explored going on a mission two times previous in my life, however, because of family and friend tragedies, I never felt that it was right. A week and a half before I planned to move, I was driving in my car and was immediately overcome by the spirit. I initially felt very prompted to receive my endowments at the temple. Upon more thinking, I knew that the spirit was telling me it's time for me to serve a mission. I immediately called my bishop, and was able to complete my mission papers in two days. I live my faith my living my life in a way that allows for this kind of direction. I now know without a doubt that I am on the right path. I feel complete and full of purpose; it is an incredible feeling to know that you have listened to the spirit and immediately followed its' promptings.
