Hi I'm Jacob Beers

I grew up in St. George, Utah. Serving a full time LDS mission for 2 years in upstate New York as of October. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

So I'm a pretty average 19 year old. Working hard and playing hard. Love hiking and hanging out with my friends. I have a real passion for dancing and sports. I was born in St. George but did not stay long enough to celebrate my first birthday here. I grew up moving a lot. I've lived in many different states here in the U.S because my parents have been divorced since I was little. Though finally, I have moved back and have been a resident of the great city of St. George for 5 years now. I would like to call myself one who has a great passion for adventure and admiration for the beauty of nature. Some accomplishments include a very successful high school track record. I had the privilege to qualify and race at the BYU invitational. My special event was running the 400 meter dash. It was honestly one of the greatest things I did in high school and love and cherish those experiences to this day.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I've been born in a family already members of the church I still have had to seek out my own conversion and build a testimony of Christ and his teachings. I'm a Mormon because I have seeked out and received personal and sacred revelation telling me the teachings are true. I have felt the spirit of the Holy Ghost. It is not to be mistaken for anything else, for I have had many experiences that bring forth intense joy and satisfaction but nothing compares to the feeling of revelation and the presence of the Holy Spirit. It is why I remain to have faith in the teachings of our prophet and Jesus Christ and also the doctrine found in the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

When waking up, reading doctrine from Christ and personal study helps me put God and Christ first in my day. I constantly question the standards of the church and study why they are put in place so that I can obey them with a joyful and gracious manner. Prayer, prayer, and more prayer. It sounds funny when you say it a lot but it is honestly the greatest learning experience available to everyone on earth. It is a direct line to speak with our beloved Heavenly Father. That, above all things is how each faithful member will keep faith and courage to act upon the doctrines and commandments of Christ.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Jacob Beers
A testimony, as I've come to understand it, is a witness or evidence that proves the existence of something. I will forever and always be a witness and have a testimony of God's love and the grace of Jesus Christ. I've heard the words of Christ speak to me personally; and as I've lived the commandments in which He has given, which I know of because of the Bible, Book of Mormon and the words of the prophets and apostles, every aspect of my life is untangled and simplified. I feel more at peace and prepared to overcome the life trials we all experience from time to time. When I stray from these principles I find myself in darkness and confusion and in a state of contention. As I've exercised faith I have seen it grow into knowledge and have had many promises, which are found in the Book of Mormon, become fulfilled in my life as I've practiced it's teachings, which are made clear and complete by the leaders of this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
