Hi I'm Josh

I'm a swim instructor at Lifetime Fitness. A huge Syracuse Orange fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born growing up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a kid I grew up to love sports and being active. In high school I use to run track and field for my school. I use to run the 100 and 200 meter dash. I just finished my freshman year of school at Brigham Young University- Idaho. Currently waiting to serve my mission for the church. I am called to serve in the Colombia Medellin Mission. I am really excited to have the opportunity to teach the people of Colombia and gain wonderful experiences there.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born growing up in the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am lucky however that my grandparents were converts to the church. If they hadn't converted, I probably wouldn't be here today. As for myself I found that as a teenager I just went along with things. Didn't give church much meaning, and at times didn't really care so much about church. It was until I received my patriarchal blessing that I really knew that God knew who I was. I will always remember the first thing written in my blessing. God knows you, and has an infinite love for you. I don't remember exactly, but it was along those lines. One night I had a strong prompting to read my patriarchal blessing. I was going through a tough time in my life, and as soon as I started reading that part I began to tear up. Maybe my "bottled-up" emotions got the best of me, but I just had a really strong sense of the spirit with me, a spirit of love. I started to see things differently. Instead of questioning things, I would do them and then start to see the blessing that come from being obedient. I know that God lives. I know that Jesus died on the cross for us, and atoned for our sins so that we could live and return to our Father's presence. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that through him the true church is back on the earth today. I have a testimony of living prophets. That Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of God. And I know that God has a plan for us. And the closer we draw closer to our Father in Heaven the better off we are. I love this church because it brings me true happiness, and I can't imagine my life without it.

How I live my faith

Well for a long time I was a primary teacher. My parents always told me I was good with kids so teaching this class would be no problem. A primary teacher is usually one who teaches a class of kids in various ages. I was assigned to teach a bunch of 4-5 year old kids (the best age group). It would be a struggle to teach kids basic things like loving one another or how sharing is caring. But a lot of times I would realize that as the teacher I would gain better insight. I was almost getting more out of the lessons by preparing and teaching them, then the actual kids probably were.
