Hi I'm Mary

I am currently going to Brigham Young University of Idaho and I just received my mission call to the Columbus, Ohio mission!

About Me

I am currently enrolled in school at one of the churches Universities. I also am a licensed cosmetologist. I just received my mission call to serve in the Columbus, Ohio mission, speaking English. I have 5 sisters and 4 brothers. I also have 20 nieces and nephews. I have always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints and still learn new things about the church today.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I know that the church is true. While going through life, I have had my own highs and lows. Christ is always there for me, and most importantly he loves me, and he loves you, and he loves each and everyone of us. When I was at a low in my life, and was stressed with a pageant I was performing in, I was overthinking my life. While having a break down a little voice came into my mind, and that voice was the holy spirit, one of the messengers of God. And the small quite voice in my head said exactly what I needed to hear, "It does not matter how well you will do in your pageant, it doesn't matter what others think of you, because you are a daughter of God and I love you. Don't forget that you are special, don't forget that you are loved, even when at times you may think you are not. You can achieve anything with the help of God, because you are a daughter of God". Now, when things get tough I take a deep breath and remember, You are a daughter of God. God loves you, you can achieve great things. I have had many moments since then, where I have recognized the spirit, which confirmed what I was hearing was true, and I hope someday you will be able to recognize the holy spirit and the blessings God has placed in your life. And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

As a mormon in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I have had several different callings through out my life time. I have been the leader over girls my age, varying from ages 13-16. I have been a music coordinator that leads music in front of everyone in church. I have been a counselor, or someone that helps a president or leader in a women's organization in church. I have been a church teacher that has given lessons to women on different topics the church wants us to teach. One of the lesson topics I taught was: the Sacred Callings of Fathers and Mothers. In this lesson, I taught the importance of mothers and how they make a difference in the lives of the children and how the father and the mother are supposed to be equal in everything they do, especially when taking care of their children.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

I feel like most religions think the atonement is different things. Most think the atonement is what Christ's Crucifixion is, however it is apart of Christ's plan here on earth, it was not the official atonement. The Atonement is a part of a plan called the Plan of Salvation (or Happiness). And this plan actually starts before we, or anyone was born, even the earth.( I know it's confusing, but stay with me.) Before we were born, we lived in a place called the spirit world, and in the spirit world, all of us lived with Heavenly Father as spirits. The problem was that we needed bodies to be able to be like God. In the spirit world, there was a war over how the people would get their bodies and become like God. Jesus, one of God's children came up with the idea of going down himself and being an example of how everyone should be. Jesus knew that not everyone would be perfect and because of that people would need to repent, or be made clean like Jesus. He then said he would take upon him the sins of the world. This meant he would take all the pains and tragedies of the world, every bad thing that you had been done to you, or every bad thing that you felt. Jesus Christ is the redeemer of all mankind because of this. When we come to our judgement day and are judged by God, we can be forgiven for not being perfect on earth because Jesus Christ took on our sins (all the bad things we had done), because he loved us and he wanted us to be and live with God again.
