Hi I'm Shawn

Raised in Idaho and an enthusiast for everything outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm someone who rarely is seen sitting down or being "idle". I always have to be doing something whether it is work or play. I love snow-skiing and being in the mountains of the Western United States. They have a certain beauty that is hardly matched. I also love playing sports of all kinds, but basketball and track are my favorites. Ever since I was young I have been taught to work and to work HARD. I learned that it is the quickest way to success and the payout at the end is always worth the long hours. I'm very excited for college and will be attending BYU, once I finish my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Latter-Day Saint (Mormon), because I have truly been converted to it and have a strong love for Jesus Christ. I was born and raised with amazing LDS parents who cared about me and wanted only the best for my future. They never forced it on me but taught with love. I decided to get baptized at age 8 and have been trying ever since to be worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I think I was truly converted when I was around 16 years old. I have always believed in Jesus Christ, but for the first time I was able to share that with a less active friend and was able to change someone's life in the process. That feeling in particular was unbelievable and since then I just always want to serve and progress and gain more strength for my testimony. The Book of Mormon has the been the biggest clarification of the nature of God and Jesus Christ to me in my life. It testifies of Jesus Christ and of his divinity and adds witness to the Bible that he did come and he did suffer and die for our sins so that we can live with him someday. I know that Jesus Christ came to Earth and suffered and died for us. I know that he knows each of us and only wants us to be happy through him. I know that Joseph Smith was truly called of God to Restore the Church of Jesus Christ. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that it testifies of Christ.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by living it with action. I believe that the best way to feel good about living your religion is to actually go out and do something. I regularly attend the temple on a weekly basis and go and contribute every Sunday during the 3 hour block. Being a Latter-Day Saint is an everyday 24/7 religion. We never check our religion at the door or in fact anywhere we go. We commit to remember and be like Jesus Christ wherever we go and whenever because it is the example of Jesus we are trying to become like. I try everyday to do something good and to be even a little bit better than I was the day before.
