Hi I'm Irene

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City in an active Mormon family.

About Me

I learned that Heavenly Father answers our prayers when I was only six years old. My father had really bad asthma and almost died. Priesthood leaders from our church came and gave Dad and our family a blessing. I knew that our prayers were answered as my father recovered and never had asthma again. He even made a tennis court for us to play on in our back yard. When I was eleven years old my youth leader told me I would never knit anything worth having. You see I was left-handed and could not understand what she wanted me to do. That was the best thing she could have said to me because I went home and taught myself how to knit. Knitting is a hobby that makes me happy because I enjoy making things for others. I have knit many sweaters, dish cloths, scarves, hats, afghans, Christmas stockings etc. I love knitting. Not being able to have children of our own my husband and I adopted two sons. They are great and we love them a lot but we had planned on having 12 children. To make up the difference I did day care for 15 years raising the other 10 children for others. My favorite calling in the Mormon Church is Nursery leader because I get to be with the 18 months to 3 years old group. They are so special and so full of the spirit. After my children were grown I learned accounting and enjoyed 20 years of general accounting for an engineering firm.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I truly believe if every one would live the teachings of our Church: follow Christ's example, love and serve God, love your family and your neighbors, serve and help each other, seek for truth and that which is righteous, and always do your best, there would be no troubles in the world. I am a Mormon because my mother was a convert. She was very strong in her faith and always taught us to live the best we could, work hard and choose the right. My father was born of pioneer stock and had a heritage of courage and faith. Both of my parents served with all their hearts, might, mind and strength in building up the kingdom of God on the earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living the commandments as outlined in the Bible plus a few more that are part of the Mormon faith like The Word of Wisdom. The Word of Wisdom is a code for good health and happiness. I live my faith by studying the scriptures, Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants or Pearl of Great Price. I live my faith by praying every day as often as I can. I live my faith by serving in our church. I have been a visiting teacher for many years and it has helped me to become friends with wonderful women in our neighborhood. I have severed in many areas in our church from the littlest children to the oldest of women. I have always enjoyed their stories and their influence on my life. I live my faith by trying each day to do what Jesus would have me do.
