Hi I'm Mitchell

I like to play the piano and learn new languages. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music very much. I love to listen to it as well as write and play it. I play the piano, and would like to learn the cello and guitar someday. I also love to learn new languages. I am nearly fluent in Spanish, and I am learning Japanese. I would like to learn Mandarin Chinese someday, as well as French. I have been called to the Japan Sapporo mission and will serve there for 2 years. In my spare time I like to watch movies, eat ice cream, or sleep. I also love to run cross country and track. My events are the 1600 meters, 110 meter hurdles, and high jump. I love my family with all of my heart.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church, so I have been taught these morals and values all of my life. Some say that I have been brainwashed or that I can't think for myself, but the true reason I have remained a member of this church is that it has very smart truths: we have the Word of Wisdom to keep us healthy so that sickness and disease don't get in the way of our daily lives. It has taught me to stay away from gambling and pornography and other things that can become addicting and consuming. I have learned the law of Chastity, which keeps us away from other addicting practices. This church is a church of reason, and it only makes sense to me that God, who wants us to be happy, would give us commandments such as these so that we can be the happiest possible while on this earth. This church is also based largely on the family, which I love so very much. I could go on and on, but basically this church just makes sense. And it's all backed up by the still smaill voice that tells me that it's true. I have received a witness time and time again from the Holy Ghost that this is the one true church on the earth, and that Jesus Christ is at the head of it all. I am grateful for the blessings I have received as I keep the commandments. After all this, how can I not be a Mormon?

How I live my faith

Because of my love for music and the gospel, I was called to be one of the organists in my ward. I accompany the congregation about once a month. I also serve by helping in most of the eagle scout service projects that are organized by a member of my ward. I am about to serve as a missionary for the LDS church, serving for 2 years.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Mitchell
Of course not! In the Bible we learn that Jesus said love everyone. I believe that everyone on this earth is a child of God, and that everyone could use some sincere help. Whether they are a member of my same church or not, I believe that they are still my spirit brothers and sisters, and I love them very much. As a missionary, I will be focusing most of my efforts on nonmembers and how I can best serve them. I will serve them whether they accept the gospel or not (though I hope that they will come to know that what I teach is true). Show more Show less
