Hi I'm Ryan Hakes

I grew up in Arizona. I play Rugby and pretty much any sport. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I played Football all through out High School. I played Basketball and Track for my first 2 years of high school. Started Rugby my sophomore year and played it through Senior year. I might be going to U of A or BYU to play in a couple of years after my mission. I have a big family of 8. I have 3 older and 2 younger siblings so I know what is like to be the middle child who doesn't get everything he wants haha. I used to play the Viola but stopped after about 7th grade. Got frustrated with a teacher who wouldn't move me into a higher class even though I was good enough too so I stopped playing. Ceramics is pretty fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all of my life and just went off my parents testimony which i'm sure is similar with all different kids in other Churches also. So I decided that one day i wanted to know if this was what i needed in my life and what I really wanted to do. So I began reading the Book of Mormon because I needed to know if it was true for myself. I started in 1 Nephi and just started reading. And I read with a real intent to know that these things were true. I got to 1 Nephi 1:20 and then i prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I have never felt the spirit so strongly. I was Happy, and peaceful, and knew, that this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints also know as Mormons, is true. That the book of Mormon is the word of God our Eternal Father. He knows us and knows what we need in our lives. If you are interested in this Church then read that book with real intent and a desire to know the truth, and I know for a fact, that you will know that this is God's true church on the Earth today and that the Book of Mormon is true. I love being a Mormon and wouldn't trade it for the world. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know that this Church is true. And I am proud to call myself a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Lets see... I have been a Deacon's Quorum President, Teacher's Quorum President, and Priest's 2nd assistant so I have been in a leadership position most of my life. These are different youth leaderships that i was a part of, Deacons (age 12-14), Teachers (14-16), Priests (16-18). It's not because I ask to be it they just like to torture me!! Hahaha. I'm joking. I liked being in the presidencies because it gave me a lot of experience with communicating with people, getting to know people, and how to best help others. I am a Eagle Scout and did my Eagle Project for a school I used to go to. I helped power wash (spray with powerful hose) the walls of the school, paint where the door swings open, and clean up trash from of the ground. This really showed me how to be able to communicate with people because I had 80 people show up!!! It was crazy. I am the ward mover. Everyone calls our family when we move haha. It's like they think we are strong and work out all the time or something?? (That's cuz we do haha, we love sports and working hard).
