Hi I'm Cameron

I was born in Canada. I grew up in Las Vegas. I am a golfer and a chess player who likes to travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Some of the things that I am interested in is chess and golf. I picked up chess in middle school and over the years I have studied and gotten better in my own respect. I have taken the high school state championship twice and now have graduated. I also played varsity golf for all of my 4 years in high school. I have a deep interest in Chemistry and plan to attend BYU to study chemical engineering. My favorite type of music is rap and hip-hop. Some of favorite artists include the Wu-Tang Clan, Kanye West, and 2Pac. I also love to travel and to see other parts of the world. I have participated in two humanitarian trips to Cape Verde and Tonga which were simply life changing. It was amazing to be able to serve the wonderful people of those countries. I have been called to serve in the Detroit Mission for the next two years of my life and I am beyond excited to serve the lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have always been active, but mostly out of parents trying to get me there. However when I wanted to know whether the church was true because of the different trials I had in my life I made a decision to read the Book of Mormon to find that answer. It came to me after a really difficult struggle I had and I had just broken down one night because it was hard to continue on. I prayed earnestly and poured out my soul unto God and I received a comforting peaceful feeling assuring me that I was on the right path. Since then I have continued to struggle, but I now have a stronger foundation and understand my position in this world. As I have tried to become more faithful and strong in the church I feel I have been given that extra strength to get through my trials. I now have a sure testimony and I am excited to be able to spread the gospel on a mission.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is by striving to live up to the responsibilities and blessings of being a member of my church. I make sure to try to fulfill all of my callings in the church because I believe it is vital to do that which the lord has given me. I have been called as a family ward historian and in this calling I have learned how to find people in my ancestry and how I can help others to do the same. Besides just helping others, I have found it fun to learn and discover more about my ancestors as it helps really connect me with those who I have come from. I am also in a calling to be the 2nd assistant to the president of the 16-18 year olds. In this I have helped organize our different events that we hold, helped reach out to those in our group, and have helped the president with different tasks. Being a Priest some of the things that I do include the blessing the sacrament and one of the best things is that we take it to those who cannot come to church due to age or sickness. It is amazing to be able to serve those people in our ward and to see there appreciation and to come to know them. Finally I also am a home teacher so I visit about five families once a month to get to know them and to give them a message. I go with my dad every month and it has been great to be able to know these people better and learn more about them.
