Hi I'm Joseph Adams Liu

I'm a nomad. I'm a board game geek. I love Star Wars. I love warfare in history. I served a mission in Michigan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As stated above, I'm a nomad! I grew up moving around, starting in my birthplace, American Fork Utah, to other places, such as Houston Texas, Orlando Florida, Tetonia Idaho, Eagle Mountain Utah, and even Australia at one point! I am the oldest of 12 and was homeschooled. Me and my family are pretty close and love to hang out with each other. I love to read fantasy and historic fiction. I like to sing. I also developed a love for hiking and backpacking into the mountains thanks to my family and scouting. I also love history (particularly warfare in history), Star Wars, and playing and designing board games. I am attending Utah Valley University. I served in a mission in the Michigan Lansing Mission from July 2015 to August 2017.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love God. God has told me this is the truth, and I have received that witness time and time again. I have fallen away from the church in past years, angry with God for tragedies and events that challenged my faith and weakened my resolve. I wandered around trying to find happiness anywhere but where God was. I didn't believe He loved me. However, after years of searching, I did turn back to the truths I grew up with and I studied and prayed and wrestled to gain a knowledge of those things again, and I did. I do know God loves me, for I have felt it time and time again. This church gives you opportunities to grow and come closer to God and Christ in ways you will never get anywhere else. I do know Christ lives, I do know the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and thus I not only know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God but I also know the Bible is true. I will defend those truths to the end of my life. You can find truth and little things here and there in the world and in other religions, but the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has legit, straight truth. "Truth is a razors edge that separates truth from near truth". I challenge all to test the claims of the Mormon church at the source. Read the Book of Mormon. I know that if you do prayerfully, looking for an answer, you will gain a witness that it is truth, and thus know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God and Christ has established his church on the Earth again. Then you shouldn't have any doubt that this is where the Lord wants you to be, and you will find peace.

How I live my faith

We as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints believe that our lives should be the expression of our faith. We believe that they way we live our lives should demonstrate our love for the Savior and what he has done for us. Therefore, I live my faith by HOW I live. I made sacred covenants with God to follow Him and keep the commandments He has asked me to keep through the scriptures and living Prophets. While imperfect, I strive to be like my Savior Jesus Christ. And when I fall, I trust in His grace by repenting, standing back up, dusting myself off, and pressing forward with trust that as long as I strive to my utmost ability to keep those covenants I have made, I will get to where I need to go, no matter how many times I slip and fall.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Joseph Adams Liu
The Bible is most clearly the word of God and Holy Scripture to us! The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, which we believe to be Holy Scripture and the Word of God, testifies and teaches about the Bible. When the Bible and Book of Mormon are used together, you can gain great knowledge and understanding of many things, including things that are undefined and questions that are left unanswered in the Bible.
