I GREW UP ACROSS THE ROAD FROM MY GRANDPARENTS 100 ACRE FARM IN SOUTHERN OHIO. US 3 SISTERS PLAYED WITH 14 COUSINS WHO LIVED AROUND US. WE RODE A BUS TO A SCHOOL THAT HAD ALL 12 GRADES. MY FATHER WAS A SCHOOL TEACHER & MY MOM BABYSAT. WE MOVED AWAY AFTER MY 7TH GRADE. I WAS THE ONLY MORMON IN HIGH SCHOOL. I ATTENDED A BUSINESS COLLEGE THEN WORKED AS A SECRETARY FOR A FEW YEARS BEFORE STARTING MY FAMILY. I HAVE 4 DAUGHTERS & 9 GRANDCHILDREN WITH ANOTHER ON THE WAY NEXT YEAR. MY HOBBIES ARE MY GRANDKIDS/ GARDENING/ TRAVELING/ FISHING & CAMPING. I ALSO CROCHET, SEW, BOTTLE FRUIT FROM MY FRUIT TREES & GARDEN. MY WHOLE FRONT YARD IS FLOWER BEDS. IN MY LAST WORK JOB I WAS A SCHOOL BUS DRIVER FOR 3+ YEARS AND LOVED IT. I AM NOW RETIRED AND AM LOVING IT.

Why I am a Mormon

My great grandparents joined the church in 1901 in the hills of southern Ohio. He was a school teacher in a one room school that had 8 grades. When the school district found out that he had been baptized a Mormon they fired him. He had to go to the far side of the county to get another teaching position and went home on weekends. The next year he was allowed to go back to his old school. Back then it was usually older married men who were missionaries. My grandmother was the oldest of 7 kids. She got baptized at 10 years old. She was the only one of the 7 kids who continued going to church into adulthood. My mother was #9 of 10 kids born on the farm. Besides my mother, one aunt and one uncle stayed active in church. I am the oldest of 3 girls and all 3 of us are active Mormons. In my childhood we attended Baptist summer school for 2 weeks every summer. I've attended several other churches with friends or non Mormon family members but always wanted to stay with the Latter Day Saints where I was comfortable. I know that we have a Heavenly Father and that we are his literal spiritual children. I know that Jesus Christ is our elder brother and came to earth to teach us to LOVE everyone and that He died on the cross for our sins I believe that the Holy Ghost is available to whisper to our minds what we should or could do. We can only receive that help if we are following the commandments .

How I live my faith

I ATTEND CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY. EVEN WHEN WE TRAVEL WE WILL FIND A MORMON CHURCH TO ATTEND. MY CHURCH JOBS HAVE MOSTLY BEEN TEACHING NURSERY (18 months - 3 years old) & THE 3-4 YEAR OLDS. I HAVE BEEN CAMP DIRECTOR FOR THE YOUNG WOMEN ABOUT 14 SUMMERS. THAT MEANS I'VE BEEN IN CHARGE OF PLANNING FOR THE GIRLS TO CAMP IN THE MOUNTAINS. THEY LEARN TO COOK MEALS OVER A FIRE. WE DO CRAFTS AND SKITS. THERE ARE 2 OR 3 OTHER LADIES TO HELP WITH EACH AGE GROUP. I CURRENTLY WORK WITH THE 10 YEAR OLD BEAR CUB SCOUTS.
