Hi I'm Kayla

I grew up in Utah. My parents are divorced but I have faith and hope in Christ that guides me everyday. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest in a family of 4 kids. My parents were divorced when I was ten. Because of all of the stress and accusations during the divorce, my mom left the church. I am the only active member of my family besides my dad who lives in North Dakota and my little sister who comes with me every once in a while. I love this gospel because I've learned that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. One of my favorite quotes is by Thomas S. Monson, "dare to be a Mormon, dare to stand alone, dare to have a purpose firm, dare to make it known." This gospel has gotten me through the toughest times of my life when I've felt like I was all alone, but I've gained a testimony of my Savior and know that he always stands by me and is there reaching down to pick me up.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this church gives me a purpose in my life. It helps me become a better person every day as I strive to improve in my scripture reading and feel of my Heavenly Father's infinite love. When I am too tired to stand, too hopeless to walk, I fall to my knees and He lifts me up. My overall favorite scripture is Micah 7:7-8 "Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me." Satan can have no power over me because Jesus Christ is my light. I've had a difficult life as I've moved across the state with my mom and our differing values, but the one constant that I've had in my life is the LDS gospel. I am proud to call myself a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings and fulfilling all of the callings that I have been assigned. I've served in the presidencies of the three different classes of youth groups. However, my favorite calling was one I had when I was 17. I was called to be a daughters of faith retreat big sister and asked to prepare lessons for the girls that would be in my family. I learned so much about self worth and the purpose that I serve as a woman in this church. Because of my love of this gospel, I have decided to serve an 18 month mission. I've had a desire to serve a mission since I was 16. I want to go on a mission because I want others to come to a greater knowledge of their Father in Heaven and their purpose on this earth. Life isn't easy, but it is possible. Heavenly Father provides a way for all of His children to return to Him someday. I want to help people feel of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ's love. I have been called to serve in the Washington Federal Way Mission. I cannot wait to get out into the field and teach people of the marvelous gift and light that this gospel is in my life.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

One of my favorite things to do is to take drives. I live in a beautiful area, so when I need to take a minute and pray to my Heavenly Father, I take a drive and look at the beautiful country that He has blessed me with. I look at the trees and see my God in their random perfection, I hear the many different birds that twitter and tweet and know that God had a hand in creating all living creatures. Every aspect of nature points to an omnipotent being. When I take drives I feel peace in knowing that my God is all around me and surrounds me with His love. I am able to feel His presence when I pray because I see all of His creations around me. I watch the sunset and marvel in the glorious colors that are formed. I look out at the night sky and see the billions of stars in our universe and delight in the fact that our world has been placed in the exactly perfect position so as to contain life. I know that God lives because of the world that we live on and the spirit that is evoked when I am out in nature. Show more Show less
