Hi I'm Joshua Hougaard

I grew up in Orem, Utah. I'm a big sports fan. I love music. I'm a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I played soccer and lacrosse in High School. I love to do anything outdoors, particularly anything you use a board for (Wakeboard, Snowboard, Longboard). I have four brothers, who I love to hang out with. I also really love music, particularly singing, playing piano and guitar. I'm a huge football fan, but never played. I'm on a two year LDS Mission in San Diego California (2015-2017). I love the Gospel and I love being a missionary!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church. My parents and family on both my mother and father's sides are Mormon. Most people think that since I grew up in the church, I'm a Mormon by birth. While I may have been born into the church, I had to have my own personal conversion. I didn't always know that the church is true. A prophet of the Book of Mormon named Moroni leaves a promise at the end of holy scripture known as the Book of Mormon. The promise is that when we read the Book of Mormon, and sincerely ask God if it is true, that we will gain a witness by the power of the Holy Ghost. I have read the Book of Mormon, and have tested the prophetic promise of Moroni, and have come to know for myself that this is Jesus Christ's restored church. I now have that knowledge for myself, not because others around me believe.

How I live my faith

There are many ways I live my faith. The one that applies most to me right now is serving a two-year mission, to try and help others receive the restored gospel. It is the happiest time in my life, seeing others change and become better people. Mormons are also very family oriented. I consider my family relationships, and spending time with them and growing closer to them is a way that I live my faith. My family means everything to me. I live my faith by striving every day to become more like our savior, Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joshua Hougaard
No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. While Joseph Smith was vital in the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we don't worship him. We worship Jesus Christ, because this is His church on Earth. Show more Show less
