Hi I'm Shelby Mae Dickson

My name is Shelby Mae Dickson and I am from Orem Utah. I've been in this church my whole life, I believe it, I live it, I love it!

About Me

I enjoy playing volleyball, watching movies (espeically animation), listening to music (especially movie soundtracks), watching BYU sports, and hanging out with my family. I just finished my job at Arby's that I've had for over a year being the prep supervisor and I'm ending my other job Papa Murphy's this week. I've enjoyed my work experience and I've felt like I've matured because of it. I'm ending my jobs because I am going on an LDS misison to Arequpia Peru. I'm going on a mission because of a scripture in Alma 5:14, and that I want to share that joy and spirit I felt while reading that scripture about a change of heart on my mission. I want to serve and love the Lord and the people in Arequipa. After my mission, I'm planning on finishing my generals either at UVU or BYUI maybe BYUI so that I can transfer to BYU and get my degree in Digital Media in either animation, filming, or audio production. I would also like to get married in the Salt Lake City Temple so that my family and I can be together forever. I would like to have four kids (two girls and two boys) living the principles of the gospel to be able to endure to the end and have everlasting life.

Why I am a Mormon

I would like to bear my testimony that I am a Mormon because I'm continuing to follow His gospel. Why? Because I know that this church is true because when I went through the Salt Lake Temple recently I felt the Spirit, warmth, peace, love, and comfort so strongly there. I know that the Book of Mormon is true because Alma 5:14 taught me to have a change of heart by serving a mission to share that joy and Spirit to others and to love and serve the Lord and people there. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet and that he has other apostles and authorities help guide us through this troubled world. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he restored this everlasting gospel and translated the Book of Mormon for us because I always have that warm feeling which is the Spirit whenever we talk about him. I will always strive to keep the commandments and my covenants to the Lord to show my love and gratitude for everything's that He's done for me. I love this gospel and I will always believe it, I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to always be worthy by saying my morning and evening prayers, reading in the scriptures at night, writing in my journal my thoughts and feelings about the gospel, having family home evening to make sure that my family stays strong in the church, striving to go to the temple each week to feel the spirit, preparing for my mission so that I feel ready when I leave.
