Hi I'm Robert J. Clayton

I am an architect, artist, experienced sailboater and I am a mormon.

About Me

I have recently retired from a 37 year architectural career 32 years of which was serving the US Army Corps of Engineers. My projects have taken me to all parts of the world from Egypt to Alaska and almost everywhere in between. My education opportunities have been extensive including specialized education from Brigham Young University and Harvard. Life has been full of wonderful adventures including many outdoor challenges from sailboat regattas in Alaska to cattle ranching in Mexico's high mountains. With it all my greatest and most dear experiences have been with my college sweetheart and wife of nearly 40 years, Diane and our 7 great children, our 21 grandchildren and our chocolate Lab named Kodiak.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want the peace and happiness the Lord promises to those who come unto Him. He is the only way and His church is the only place that has His authority to perform sacred and necessary ordinances that bind my family to each other and to the family of God for eternity.

How I live my faith

My faith in Jesus Christ and his gospel mean everything to me and are the absolute basis of my life. But I believe faith alone isn't enough. I believe that one must be willing to do what that faith requires not to be saved because we cannot do enough service or acts of kindness to do that for ourselves, only our Savior Jesus Christ can save us. However, I want Him and my Father in Heaven to know that I love them and that I want to follow them in my way of life and the best way to show that is to be obedient to their laws and ordinances. Those ordinances are found only in the Church of Jesus Christ with power and authority from Him to act.
