Hi I'm Sarah Loertscher

I grew up in Idaho. I dream of someday being a children's book author. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second child of six. I love to clear my mind by running outdoors. I am in my junior year of college and because my major is English, am constantly busy with writing papers. But in the time that I am not at school I enjoy hunting with my dad and brother every fall. In my five years of hunting I have harvested two deer. I have a special place in my heart for goldfish. I am not sure why, but those tiny fish have been one of my favorite things to have as a pet! I enjoy drawing, painting and experimenting with art in new mediums.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know that it is Christ's restored church on the earth in this day in age. I was born into a family who regularly attended church and so from the time I was little I went to church with my parents and family. From the time I was small I learned that God is my loving Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I felt good about the things that I was taught and believed them. Over the next years of my life I came to know for myself that these things were true. I have prayed and asked Heavenly Father for knowledge and have felt it confirmed to me that this church is true and that it is lead by a prophet who receives revelation from God. When I was fifteen years old I went through a really hard time. I fractured a vertebra in my lower back and was in constant pain for several months. At this time in my life I felt alone. I couldn't understand why I was hurting so much and I didn't think it was fair that I had to be very careful when all my friends my age could run and play with out a problem. During this time of trial I developed a very negative aspect of life. For months I was in a dark place until I remembered that I could pray and ask Heavenly Father for help with anything that I experienced. I came to know my Savior and felt his presence and love for me. My back pain didn't go away immediately, in fact it has taken several years to learn how to best take care of my back. But I know that I have been able to get through this trial of my life because I know that God loves me and that Jesus Christ has felt the pain that I have gone through. Being a Mormon has blessed me and changed my life for the better. I know this is the true church.

How I live my faith

I participate in as many service activities as I possibly can. I like to be able to serve others because it helps me become a better person. When I serve I feel good about myself and others. It helps me to see people as God sees them. Another thing that I like doing is stopping by to visit members of the ward. On Sunday evenings my family likes to go on bike rides and stop to visit people we had been thinking about that week. It is a really neat experience because we have been able to let those we visit know that we love them. When I have been able to visit and serve others I have felt God's love for them and in turn this has helped me to feel God's love for me. I recently received my mission call and will be serving in Everett Washington as a full-time missionary. I will be serving from 2015 to 2017 for a period of 18 months.
