Hi I'm Megan

I am a gardener and older sister. I love to spend time outdoors, travel and serve others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've grown up in southern Utah, where there is always a hike, if you are not afraid of the sun. I love a good challenge, and to learn. I love to spend time outside with plants and animals. I enjoy service and traveling. I have raised money for children in Africa with measles. I went to the Dominican Republic to build a school and help solve the sanitary water problems. I am also super excited serve a mission in Mexico in a few months. I know that Mexico is where my Heavenly Father wants me to be during this time in my life. However, when I return I want to go to school to get a degree in global health, so I can continue to travel and serve. I have two younger sisters, both keep me running. I have an amazing mom who although has been through a lot she has always been there to support me. I love to stay busy and so far busy is what life has been.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that this is the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have always known that. But with every trial I find that I know and understand it even more than before I was brought to my knees. I know that with faith all things are possible. All miracles happen because of faith. He is only a step away. I realized something not long ago while reading about Peter. When Jesus asked Peter to walk with him on the water, He was asking him to take a challenge, a trial. Peter having faith agreed. However after a few steps into his trial he realized what he was doing and began to sink. Jesus reached out, but it was Peter that took his hand. Like Peter, I look down, and realize what a mess I am in, or ask why is this happening to me. I begin to sink. But then, remember why I am here in the first place, Heavenly Father asked me to have faith in him. And It is by that faith that I can get through any of my trials. I know that my Father will always be there for me, if I trust in his plan.

How I live my faith

Another one of my hobbies is Temple work and Family History. I have always believed that it wasn't my place to do Family history work that it was already done. Boy! Was I wrong! Then the First Presidency and Twelve Apostles began to really emphasize that it was the youth's job to find their ancestors. They next semester I took an Institute class in Family History. I have never learned so much with a passion in such short time. I found name after name, history after history. I found that they were not just names that these "names" were in fact people with families and lives. I found out where my family came from and when they immigrated to North America. In Malachi 4:6 it says "... he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers..." I believe my heart has been turned to my ancestors, I believe that I made them a promise to them. That I would do my very best to find them. To help them with temple ordinances. To find who they were and who they are. I wish I started earlier because there is so much to do. And I love and learn every minute I spend searching for them.
