Hi I'm Richard

I was born in China, grew up in Hong Kong, went to college in Canada and then worked in N. America for ~42 years before I retired.

About Me

I am a retired geoscientist and, before my retirement, I loved my job using new technology to find and produce oil and gas, the much needed resources for modern living. I have 2 children both of whom are productive citizens of the country. I enjoyed photography and family history work.

Why I am a Mormon

I was first introduced to the Church by my girl friend who is now my wife. I studied the principles and belief of the Church with the help of two young Mormon missionaries 46 years ago. I eventually joined the Church not only because I was inspired by the faith and example of those two missionaries, or because of the genuine friendship and love of the church members I associated with but definitely and mainly because I could not denied the burning sensation I felt in my bosom whenever I read the Book of Mormon testifying to me through the Holy Ghost the truthfulness of the gospel. Looking back, my baptism, though spiritual and memorable, was only the beginning of my gospel journey. My conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ has actually very continual and gradual, year after year, through my participation in various aspect of church functions to feel the power and tender mercy of God's hand in people's lives and through constant prayer and pondering of the holy scriptures. I embrace Mormonism because it changed my life beyond my wildest dream.. I am most grateful to my loving Heavenly Father for my abundance of blessings and the knowledge that it is through my service to all the people around me that I can begin to attempt to repay His love. I am indebted to my wife for having invited me to feast on this precious gospel and to know my Lord and my savior. I really appreciate my parents for having brought me to this amazing world and having taught me the golden rule. I am also thankful to all the people I met and worked with for having enriched my life. I am very excited that my wife and I finally have the opportunity to serve a foreign mission and pray that we may be filled with the spirit of God when serving and loving the people in the mission field.

How I live my faith

My wife and I enjoyed going to church at least every Sunday to worship God, to partake of the spirit there, to enjoy the fellowship of fellow saints and to learn to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ. Besides representing the leader of our congregation to visit several families monthly with another male member, I am one of the Sunday School teachers for our adult class. I am also a representative for our congregation to organize and encourage participation in community services utilizing our church sponsored website JustServe.
