Hi I'm Kent

I am a student of Mathematics and Computer Science in college. I am a future missionary and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and I study Mathematics and Computer Science. I have 3 brothers and a sister. I enjoy playing the violin and playing various games with my brothers. I also enjoy various kinds of metal smithing, especially chainmaile weaving. I like participating in service projects when I can find them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church, because of the simple fact that I know is true. I have a testimony that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. We still have prophets on the Earth in this day here to lead and guide the world. Today President Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet. I know that Jesus Christ lived and made the Atonement for our sins, so that everyone can repent and improve themselves and overcome past mistakes. Jesus Christ died and was resurrected so that we can all be resurrected ourselves. Living this gospel brings so much happiness and so many blessings to my own life and I want to serve as a full time missionary, so that I can share the happiness and blessings that the gospel of Jesus Christ brings with other people.

How I live my faith

I am the Elder's Quorum Secretary, which means I help to record and keep track of the quorum's goals and assignments. I do things like taking attendance for the quorum each Sunday and I attend quorum presidency meetings. I also get to go on visits to families who may be in need with the Elder's Quorum President. Those are always great opportunities serve and bless other people. I am the Branch Missionary right now. This makes me a sort of local support to the full time missionaries who serve in my branch. I go on visits with them several day per week and we teach the gospel to people and invite them to come unto Christ. I also go to several service projects with them and sometimes drive them places and provide them with dinner. This is a way that I am preparing to serve my own full time mission. I bring the sacrament to an elderly woman in my branch who is unable to travel to church each Sunday and visit her during the week. Occasionally, I am a substitute teacher for youth classes and I am an assistant scoutmaster for my branch's boy scout troop. Soon I will be serving as a full time missionary in Idaho and speaking Spanish.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

We believe that young men have a priesthood responsibility to serve missions and they generally serve at about 18 or 19 years of age. Young women also have the opportunity serve a full time mission, but do not share the same priesthood responsibility. Retired men and women, without dependents, are also able to serve. Missionaries all serve voluntarily and are not payed for their service. I am preparing to serve my own mission in Idaho, where I will be speaking Spanish. I am excited to be able to serve and share the gospel that blesses me with God's children who are prepared to receive it. Show more Show less
