Hi I'm Zachary Deleray

BYU student currently on a mission to Brazil. I love to make people laugh. I know all the words to One Week and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I converted to the church when i was young, following the example of my mother. I went BYU and want to continue studying Political Science and Economics. I am currently serving a mission in Brasilia, Brazil and loving every minute of it. I wrestled in highschool and am a big fan of Star Wars. I love to make people laugh, whether at me or with me really isn´t too important. I also love to watch sports, namely Basketball and Football. I am a LA Clippers fan and have been since i was born, which proves that I can love something through the good times and the bad, and that I am always loyal. I also live for football season just to play Fantasy Football with my family, because we take it way too seriously.

Why I am a Mormon

Like I said I followed the example of my mom and was baptized when i was young. However it took me many years to develope my own testimony. I constantly battled with the decision to be a member of this Church or not. It was not until some very dear friends of mine bore their testimonies to me at BYU that I truly kneeled down and prayed about everything. I had never been one to pray, but it was in this moment that I reflected on my life and came to a realization that the happiest I ever was, was at Church activities I thought were silly at the time. It was in this moment that I decided I wanted this happiness all the time, and I was going to have it. I decided to serve a mission right then and there, turned my life around, and haven´t looked back.

How I live my faith

Well Im currently serving a mission so everything I do is to live my faith, but specifically I love to teach. I love when I can explain a principle of the Gospel or something like the Plan of Salvation and see the light in the eyes of those I am teaching as they come to understand the love God has for them. I also taught Gospel Doctrine at BYU and loved it. In my life I have always tried to show that as a Mormon I can be funny, and myself, while still living the Gospel. I feel like this will help others open their hearts to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ, knowing you can still be you, just a better version of you.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Zachary Deleray
A lot of people seem to think we only use The Book of Mormon as our Bible, but this could not be further from the truth. I like to think of the Bible and the Book of Mormon as rice and beans. Both have nutrients necessary to sustain the human body, but one without the other does not provide enough, it is only together that we receive the vitamins and carbs we need, and not to mention together they are delicious. The Bible and the Book of Mormon work the same way, and together they provide the Spiritual nurishment that we need. Show more Show less
