Hi I'm Brittany

I'm from Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm currently serving in the Iowa Des Moines Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello friends :) I'm 20 years old and a business major at USU. I recently graduated with my associates degree. I love sports, I played on the high school basketball and volleyball team and was a captain of each. I do clubs such as DECA and FBLA. I'm currently serving a mission in Des Moines, Iowa.

Why I am a Mormon

I've always been a memeber of the church, but I was 13 when I gained my own testimony. I had just participated in a region wide youth activity involving the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. I just felt so good the whole time, and for the first time I knew what feeling the spirit felt like for me. I went home that day just wishing for it to be fast and testimony meeting the next day so that I could bear my testimony and it would finally be a 'real' testimony. But fast and testimony meeting was scheduled to be held the next Sunday. So I prayed that Heavenly Father would give me an oppurtunity to bear my testimony. He answered my prayers but not in the way I was expecting it. My bishop choose to call me out of the congregation to bear my testimony. He picked me, a young 13 year old girl who had just prayed for an oppurtunity to bear her testimony. That can't be coincidence, it was a miracle testifying to me that this is the true church. That my Heavenly Father knows who I am and cares about me. I've always been able to fall back on that testimony. I know this is the true church and i'm so grateful for it. It has shaped my life in so many ways. In the guys I date, to the clothes I wear I know that the way I act and the things I do matter. I want to be the best person I can be and for me that started with a simple prayer. I love my Heavenly Father and I'm so grateful for everything he has done for me and all of the blessings I have received. This is the true church and I know it without a shadow of a doubt. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every sunday. I love this gospel and i'm happy to go and learn more every week. In my home ward I teach the sunbeams, or 3 year olds, and they are the best! They don't have a vast knowledge of the church but what they do know is sweet and simple. They teach me every week and I love being with them. In my singles ward I teach the women. Its interesting how different my sunbeams are from the women my own age, and still they are very similar. In addition to going to church each week, I try to go to the temple every week. The temple is beautiful and I love the feelings I get every time I go there. I am a mormon everyday of my life. I live the gospel, and I try to be a good person and help those in need.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Brittany
Women are so important in the church! Women and Men work together like your left and right hand, neither one is more important then the other but they work together to accomplish a common goal. Many people think that just because women don't hold the priesthood that we think we are less then the men. But if you really understood our doctrine you'd see how equal our roles truly are. We as women have the responsibility to carry unborn children inside us, we have this direct connection from God. Men have the responsibility to have the priesthood which is an act of service, not power. I love the priesthood there have been so many instances in my life when I've see the miracles that come from righteous men carrying out the will of The Father. I know there is really power in it and I'm grateful for it. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Brittany
The message missionaries share as they visit the homes of people is all centered on Jesus Christ. We strive to help people increase their faith in him as well as share our belief about him. Our purpose is not to take away from anyone's belief, but rather to add to it. We testify of prophets both ancient and modern. We believe in the King James version of the bible and invite all to do as James directs in James chapter 1 verse 5. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..." We as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints invite all to pray and and ask God about anything we teach. The Spirit will testify of its truthfulness and all can know for themselves. I know that God answers the prayers of those sincerely seeking, because he answered my prayer. I know that Joseph Smith was truly called to be the prophet of the restoration of the gospel. It was through his translation we have the Book of Mormon. This physical evidence testifies of the Savior, Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon has brought me closer to God then any other book. I know these things are true and I invite you to take the challenge and try it out for yourself. Ask God. The Spirit will always testify of truth. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Brittany
Yes! God loves all his children the same. He loves those of us here in America just as much as he loves his children in Jerusalem. His sacrifice made by preforming the Atonement was so incredible and powerful that through it we can all be forgiven for our sins and have the opportunity to make it back to our Heavenly Father again. You can read about Jesus Christ's ministry to the people of ancient America in the third book of Nephi in the Book of Mormon. You'll notice how the things Jesus teaches are the same principles and doctrines from the Bible. You can read and know for yourself. I know these things are true because I took it to God and prayed and asked him. I know he'll answer you if you have a sincere desire to know and are willing to act on the answer given. Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Brittany
Proper Authority has always been practiced in the true church of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ himself went to John the Baptist because he held the priesthood. The priesthood is the authority from God to act in his name. Something that I found interesting is that Jesus had to walk 60 miles to get to John the Baptist. That's probably a week long journey because Christ knew how important proper authority was. What would you sacrifice for that proper authority? would you walk the 60 miles? Because of the restoration of the gospel through Joseph Smith we have that authority back on the earth. A biblical account of proper authority is found in Act 18-19. We learn that Apollos is a man who knows his scriptures very well, and knew the importance of baptism by water. But when Paul came and visited with them afterwards he saw that the authority wasn't there, despite how well Apollos knew his scriptures he didn't have the authority from God to baptize anyone. Paul then re-baptized those people and then gave them the Holy Ghost. I can testify that the Priesthood power is again here on the earth and its through that power that we are able to baptize and perform other miracles. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that our current prophet President Thomas S. Monson is a prophet called of God. You too can know for yourself, through sincere prayer and by reading the scriptures I know that God will answer you. Show more Show less
