Hi I'm Troy Addington

Born and raised in Fairfield California. Love my family, my friends and my religion. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in the East Bay Area in California in a city named Fairfield. I'm the 3rd of 6 siblings. I love wrestling! I pretty much like anything that will make me laugh! Funny movies, funny people, funny YouTube videos. Sometimes I laugh in inappropriate situations. It's a problem.. I LOVE adventure! Change is good! I always look for ways to do something, see something, or go somewhere that's different! I want to see as much of the world as possible in my life! I'm currently serving as a full-time missionary in the Washington Everett Mission! Spent almost half of my mission on Whidbey Island, and LOVED IT! Whidbey island is what's up! It's the promised land!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but never really thought about what I really believed. There was a long stretch of time where church and faith were not an important part of my life. I couldn't have cared less about any of it. Deep down I always knew there was a God. In high school there were times when I tried to convince myself that there wasn't one. My Senior year of high school I had a bishop who cared about me. He was the only person in my life that I felt truly loved me and wanted what was best for me. He helped me repent. He helped me get more involved in church. He inspired me to read the scriptures, specifically the Book of Mormon. I'm a Mormon because the Book of Mormon changed my life. In Mosiah 5:2, the people of King Benjamin respond to his address. It says "And they all cried with one voice, saying: Yea, we believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we know of their surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually." This perfectly describes the effect the Book of Mormon has had on my life. I took Moroni's challenge at the end of the Book of Mormon to ask God if the book is true (Moroni 10:3-5). I know, by the power of the Holy Ghost, that it is true. As I feast on it's words, It makes me want to change. It helps me grow closer to Christ, and want to be like Him. As a missionary in the Washington Everett Mission, I had the opportunity to invite tons of people to also take Moroni's challenge, and I again saw the capability that the Book of Mormon has to change lives. I know it's true. I witnessed miracles, big and small, and saw the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ first hand, which was undeniable evidence to me of the truthfulness of the restored gospel.

How I live my faith

I'm a full time missionary in the Washington Everett Mission. I spend all day sharing the gospel with others! It's awesome! I study the scriptures every day! The scriptures are an amazing tool to help me come closer to my Savior Jesus Christ, and have a desire to be like Him! They teach me how to behave! They invite the spirit into my life. There is no greater feeling than the feeling of the spirit. I do everything I can to have Him with me always. I try to help people as much as I can. In the Book of Mormon, King Benjamin said "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17). I love God, and will do anything to show Him I love him. I serve others because I love people, but also because I love God. If somebody needs help, I will always try and find a way to be of help. That's what the Lord would do, so that's what I will do.
