Hi I'm Chris Young

I grew up in Nevada. I have just barely graduated as the Class of 2015 Valedictorian at my local high school. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I played two sports in high school: basketball and golf. I actually excelled in both sports! I was a two time state champion in golf, and a leading scorer in basketball. I am planning to go to college at Brigham Young University-Provo. I have actually just been called to serve a mission in the Philippines! I am so excited to serve the Lord and share this great gospel. Other things I like to do include adventuring, having fun, and laughing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I went to Primary and church every Sunday. Then, at age 8, I was baptized my my dad and made an official member. Baptism is special because it cleanses all of your personal sins and misdeeds. The following day I was given the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is special because it is a comforter and can warn of impending danger so log as you live worthy as to continue to invite it in your life. At age 12, I was ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood. We believe that the Aaronic Priesthood was restored to the earth to Joseph Smith by the hands of John the Baptist. It is such a privilege to have the very same power as our loving Father in Heaven and His loving son, the Savior Jesus Christ. At age 14, I was ordained as a teacher. At age 16, I was ordained as a priest. At age 18, I was ordained to the higher priesthood of Melchizedek. It is such a sacred blessing to have this great power and authority of God. I am a Mormon because I have felt the Holy Spirit tell me very clearly that this is the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He restored His church once again to the face of the earth. I know this to be true. I have a testimony of the Book Of Mormon as the word of God, translated by His prophet, Joseph Smith. I know that Joseph Smith saw the things that he saw. I cannot deny it. I know that we have a living prophet today, and he leads and directs us to righteousness. His name is Thomas S. Monson. I know that by the power of God, I can be with my family forever, which is awesome! I know that this church is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by actively visiting people to check in with them and see how they are doing! It is such a fun time to be able to talk with them and discuss any needs they may have. Also, this year I had the opportunity to be in a leadership position at a Camp Helaman. Camp Helaman is a church camp for young men aged 16-18. This camp is designed to build their testimony and prepare them to be future missionaries. I had a great experience at this camp because the Holy Ghost was present and bore witness that what we were doing is right. Also, I am currently serving a mission in the Philippines Bacolod Mission. It is a great experience to dedicate two years of my life to serve my Heavenly Father.
