Hi I'm Ali

I grew up in southern California! I'm a student at BYU-I and currently serving in the New York Utica Mission! And I'm a Mormon! :)

About Me

I am introvert/extrovert, so I love people so much, but alone time can be the best time ya know? I am an artsy person! I love both the visual and performing arts. However, I am a visual arts major at BYU-I at the moment! I am on a mission in New York Utica which has been the best decision of my life. I love serving the Lord and His children here!!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was blessed to grow up in the Mormon church, I still had to find my own testimony when I came to an accountable age. My mom is very active in the church, but my dad is not a member. He did support us in going to church and, for as long as I can remember, has attended the first hour of church meetings every Sunday. Growing up in southern California meant that members of the church were pretty low and we stood out, especially during Prop-8. During that time when my peers would mock me and try to put my faith down and what I believed in, I really had to make the continual decision of what side I was on and if this church truly was Christ's restored gospel. But as I bore my testimony to them and when tender mercies came my way that could only be from the Lord, I began to realize that I always knew that this is Christ's church. I have felt such peace when I read the Book of Mormon and other scriptures and feel so comforted to hear the prophet and apostles voices speak of what I need in this day and age. Christ and Heavenly Father knows us so perfectly and has a plan of happiness for us to return to them. They love us so much. I feel so blessed to be a part of their restored gospel and to serve their children. Christ suffered and died in His atoning sacrifice...and now He lives! Come unto Him and you will find eternal happiness and life!

How I live my faith

At Brigham Young University-ID, we are given numerous opportunities to serve our fellow students and community, such as service activities. I have been privileged to work for many of the sisters in my ward where I visit them and discuss how their lives are going. It has been a great opportunity for me to do this because it connects me to so many people that I live around and we are able to build a support system and learn to love and lift each other. Of course now, I'm on a mission where I can go and preach the gospel to the wonderful people of upstate New York! Being a missionary has refined me and has brought me closer to my Heavenly Father, how real the Atonement is, and how much He loves each and everyone of us here on earth. It's amazing! They truly love us and support us as we live the Gospel of Jesus Christ! It changes people's lives!

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Many people say, "You can't tell me what I can or can't do with my body! I do whatever I want with it because it's mine." Although we have no place in telling someone what to do with their body, we are guided and taught to know what the Lord wants and accepts. We are privileged to have these bodies and in all reality, they are not our own. They are temples of the Lord and our spirit resides in it while we are here on earth. Therefore, our spirits must be worthy to keep our body clean like a temple. We should not defile it or abuse it in any way that is unfavorable to the Lord. They are sacred and we need to take care of them the best we can so we can have the spirit with us in order to make good choices and have lasting happiness. Show more Show less
