Hi I'm Katelyn

I grew up in Idaho. I'm an international relations major. I've worked at Walt Disney World as a performer. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am an International Relations major at BYU-Idaho with aspirations of working together with people from all the around the globe to make this world a better place. I have a wonderful family with 7 brothers and 2 amazing parents. Family means everything to me and I cherish every minute spent with them. I have always had a deep love for performing and have received lead roles in several high school and community plays. I also have a passion for all things Disney! I combined that passion and my love for performing and auditioned for an internship at Walt Disney World as a performing character. I was blessed with that internship, and was able to bring Disney characters to life for 3 months. A month before I left, I was offered new roles in some of their well-known park parades and shows, as well as offers to bring to life several more characters than originally planned. The offer was tempting, but I knew that I needed to go home to prepare to serve a full-time mission for the church. I love this gospel and all the blessings it has given me and my family, and I will be serving in the Philippines Cebu East mission starting June 24, 2015.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I can never go back. I can never go back to feeling unloved, lonely, and purposeless. With the gospel of Jesus Christ, I know that I will always have someone to love me. I know that I always have family, friends, and other church members to fellowship me. I know that I have a purpose on this earth. I know that this life is for a reason, and that I can return to Father in Heaven one day with my family and be happy forever. This gospel defines who I am. It brings me pure joy.

How I live my faith

Besides preparing to serve a full-time mission in the Philippines, I live my faith in numerous ways. I live my faith by looking towards God and his servants every day. When I wake up in the mornings, I make sure to pray, letting my Heavenly Father know my most inner thoughts and desires. I then read from the scriptures to receive daily nourishment. For me, prayer is one of the best ways to receive comfort from my Heavenly Father. I know that he cares about me, and that my prayers can bring me closer to Him. It also allows me to reflect on blessings that I have in my life. It can give me the ability to ask for guidance and help. It is a principle I love. When I read the words of the scriptures, I am reminded of how important it is to live the gospel of the church. It gives doctrine and commandments, as well as examples of when people follow God's council and when they don't. It is an important part of my worship. I go throughout my day with God in mind. I don't sit around all day and chastise people because they aren't doing what I am doing. Rather, I find the good in the world and focus on that. I know that God has a hand in all of our lives and I know that if we look, we can find Him.
