Hi I'm Matthew Saunders

I am from Utah, U.S.A and I love soccer, music, and Boy Scouts. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a teenage boy with one older sister and one younger sister. I love to learn new things and have quite the busy schedule. Some things that I do are soccer, piano, clarinet, band, marching band, Boy Scouts, Order of the Arrow, running, track, and many other things. I like to compete in fun competitions in music and sports, and try to always learn new things. I have earned my Eagle Scout and like working on fun Merit Badges. I also love school a lot, especially science, math and learning how to speak French. When I am not busy with all of these hobbies and schoolwork, I absolutely love to spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the LDS (Mormon) church since I was born, but there is much more to the reason I continue to follow the teachings of this church. I have had many instances were I have followed the teachings, commandments, standards of the church, sometimes even when it wasn't the "cool" thing to do, and have seen many blessings. I have built a strong testimony with many of these small reassurances and continue to be blessed as I work hard and am dedicated to the gospel. I know that my Heavenly Father LOVES me, far beyond the capability of anyone on this earth. He also knows my needs perfectly. He loves me so much, he literally gave up his Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, for me, to forgive me of my sins, to strengthen my weaknesses. I have been blessed and helped through many trials, some of them as trivial as losing a compass before a scouting activity. One of the biggest things that He has helped me through is my little sister having cancer when she was only three years old. It was a very hard time for my whole family, but the whole way through, we were blessed and strengthened in many ways, including receiving love and aide from our neighbors. I continue to be blessed as I work around the side effects that are still left with my sister from treatment and I am so glad I have help from God. These are some of the most basic reasons that I love and dedicate myself to God and his church upon this earth.

How I live my faith

I really love the gospel and try to study and search the scriptures every day. I have a special responsibility to prepare the sacrament each week for church and help do other duties because I have special power given to me from God to act in his name, called the priesthood. I also get to be a counselor that helps the president of a group of young men around my age that have the priesthood as well. I also try to help and serve others when I have the chance.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Matthew Saunders
Families are just so great and helpful. Families can teach each other, help and support each other, and learn from each other. We believe that even after death, families can be together forever. Sometimes there can be difficult situations or arguing within our family, but if we can work hard, stick together, and strengthen our families, we can be blessed. The lord can help us if we try our hardest. Show more Show less
