Hi I'm Melissa Tuttle

I'm a golfer and a band nerd. But most importantly, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a person who loves long road trips; as long as there’s someone else who will drive so I can sleep the whole way. :) I love to explore and I think everything should be tried at least once. Well, except for shrimp. My parents divorced when I was 11, my older half-sisters are triplets (people are usually pretty bummed when they find out I am not one of them), and I have a younger brother. I am a proud aunt to two little nieces, and another on the way! I love creating, thinking, learning, dreaming, and above anything else, believing. I am a major band geek and have played everything from the piccolo to the tuba. I love fried pickles and girl scout cookies, and I LOVE being a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

My family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was three years old. Because of this, I was able to learn in my youth that I am a child of my Heavenly Father, that He loves me beyond measure, and that He has a plan for me. During major trials throughout my life, these teachings came to my remembrance and I prayed about them to see if they were true. God sent His Spirit, the Holy Ghost, to me and the way I felt was too warm, too uplifting to be anything but God's voice. I knew I was in fact His daughter and that He loved me and had a plan for me. As I grew older and made mistakes, I remembered learning that Jesus Christ bled from every pore and took upon himself all of my sins, all of my afflictions, all of my heartache, and all of my pain. I again prayed about this and that same feeling came over me as before. Again and again, I prayed about the principles I learned at church and wanted to know if they were true. Again and again I received the same confirmation. I went to a few other churches and prayed about those as well, but God's fulness was not there. I found the "one Lord, one faith, and one baptism" mentioned in the Bible. God is real. He speaks to us. This is His restored Church and gospel. I am a Mormon because I find truth, happiness, and strength through my Savior Jesus Christ and in turning my heart to God. It's just true. All it takes to know it for yourself is prayer and righteous living. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am preparing to be a full-time missionary and will be gone for 18 months. I have always found great joy in community service activities. I volunteered at an Equestrian Therapeutic Riding Center for adults and children with special needs. I enjoy serving others because I know that as I serve my fellowmen, I am in the service of my God. Plus I just really like people. And horses. I live my faith by visiting people who are struggling, befriending the lonely, and organizing activities so that people can come together and strengthen one another.
