Hi I'm Matt

I was born and raised in Southern California. I play lacrosse and surf. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California. I spend most of my free time at the beach. I love to surf and play lacrosse. I work at the local grocery store. I've been saving up so I can leave on my two year mission. I've been called to serve in ecuador beginning in July of 2015 through July of 2017. When I get home, I plan to either attend college as a premed student and eventually work to become and Emergency Room doctor or attend fire school to work on the medical team for the fire department. I am an Eagle Scout and an honor student. I grew up running distance and have ran many races throughout elementary, middle, and high school cross country and track. My favorite race is either the one mile or a half marathon. I was also captain of the lacrosse team.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the church, I developed faith as I leaned on my parents faith. When I was 15, I wanted to know for myself that the church was true. I was at our annual youth conference, which is a fun yearly get away for the youth of the church. One of my leaders encouraged us to pray when we got home from the trip. He promised that if we got on our knees and asked God, we would know the truth. I did not expect any big answer, but regardless, I got on my knees and offered the most sincere prayer I could. I asked if god knew me personally as his son and if he loved me. All of a sudden, it was as of someone was in my room, directly speaking to me. I could hear the words in my head so clearly "Yes Matthew. You are my son and I love you". Tears filled my eyes because I could not deny what I had heard. I then asked God if this was the true church on the earth. Again as clear as day, I heard the words in my head, "yes this is the true and restored gospel on this earth". I have always kept that experience very sacred to me, because I could not deny what I had heard. I know that this gospel is true and that God will speak to any and all of his children if they simply humble themselves and ask with real intent, seeking after the truth.

How I live my faith

Going to school (where I am one of a few Mormons) as well as work (where I am the only Mormon) has helped me to grow in my faith and develop strength. I have served as a leader of my youth classes within the church. I try to be and example of service thought boy scouts and the various service we as members of the church are able to give to others. I try to set an example. I know that if I try to live as Christ did, I can be a better example to others. None have my friends have ever heard me use profanity in any setting.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Matt
Missionaries simply want to invite others to come unto Christ. Many if not all have been so blessed by the gospel that they want to extend those same blessings, and the happiness they have felt, to their brothers and sisters around the world. Show more Show less
