Hi I'm Amy Loynd

I am a lover of mexican food, a native Portlandian, and writer; and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love travel, and art, and culture, and music. I have been called to the Mesa, Arizona mission in spanish and la lucha es real. I'm so jazzed about serving and especially the food in Arizona. It's going to be my downfall. There really has never been anything so beautiful to me than my time I've spent serving so far. I am an enthusiastic word nerd and just like most of my people, I have dabbled in writing. I also have been a member of a very competitive professional-level choir for many years but also full of stage fright the moment I'm alone out there. I danced for many years but the latest audience I had was my empty kitchen and I much more prefer it that way. I have one dorky brother whom I love with all my soul. If I ever needed a partner in crime, it would be him. My parents are just so wonderful and it seems get better the farther away that I am.

Why I am a Mormon

Often people will assume that because I was raised as a latter-day saint that I had no choice in the matter. But it is and always has been an active choice for me. I remember realizing that just because I was raised that way that it didn't mean I couldn't choose. I investigated as thoughly as I could. I still investigate, there seems to be always something more to learn. But no matter what, when I asked Him if this church was true, He seems to say, you already know it is. Every day I choose to be Mormon. Not that it's been easy, of all the things I have done, living my life to the best of my knowledge is the most trying challenge. I am Mormon because when I am here, He is with me. That decision brought me to my best friend. He is the wisest, most comforting, most personal friend I have ever had and knows my soul better than I. I know that Joseph Smith and Thomas S. Monson are prophets, because I asked him. I know that the Book of Mormon is true because every time I pick it up even just to read a few verses, I can feel him there.I know that He will lead me, and that He knows far beyond what my finite mind can even grasp. I feel so completely overwhelmed with the blessing of being able to proclaim "He is the Christ, hear him!" I pray I will be enough to be his servant. I testify that Jesus is the Christ. Never has anything brought me so much peace when no man could reach me. That is why I am Mormon, because after centuries of men searching for truth here it is for the taking, who wouldn't give everything they had for something so precious?

How I live my faith

I live my faith by simply living the way that my Father in Heaven would have me do. Just like most, I try to make the right choices and listen to his guidance and live up to the standards that have blest me whenever I did. I am getting ready to serve a mission soon at the Temple Visitor's center in Mesa Arizona Spanish-speaking. I
