Hi I'm Evan

I'm an honor student. I'm a wrestler. I play the trumpet. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up most of my life in Georgia. There I lived in a stake that had very strong youth and we would support each other daily. I wrestled in high school and I was okay at that. Our team was very small and we were far from the best in the area, but all of us loved it. I was the team captain and I would train very hard with them for matches and other things. I also have played trumpet for the past 7 or 8 years. I like to say I am pretty good. I marched in the marching band at my school which loved to the bottom of my heart. Marching band was so much fun. I did very well in school. I graduated in the top 5% of my class and got accepted into BYU. I think I am going to study biology there and hopefully work in a lab one day. Before going to BYU, I will be serving my mission in the Micronesia, Guam mission. I am very excited to serve the Lord in those islands and love the people. I hope to have a family one day and work inside the church.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of this church because I have found out for myself the truth within this gospel and I love seeing the blessing God gives to me as I obey. I have been a member of the church since the day I was born. I am not a convert, instead of some miraculous story or great trial of faith, my conversion has been a series of events that has led to my knowledge of the truth, my testimony, my faith, and my love for this gospel. I was taught from a young age to pray, read my scriptures, go to church and follow the commandments our Heavenly Father gives to us. When ever problems arise or a struggle would occur, I knew I could go to the Lord in prayer. It wasn't always immediate, but my prayers were constantly answered which made me know God was real. As I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it, I have come to know that it is a very true book and that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God. When I have messed up in my life and felt like I was drowning, I could pray and the spirit would guide me to repentance. As I learned to repent, the Atonement of Jesus Christ became real and I know it works. I know Christ died for my sins and loves me. He know all of us individually and desires for us to come live with him and our father in heaven some day. I love this church and I have know that it is the only true church on the face of the earth today!

How I live my faith

I have held many callings inside the church. I have been in many callings in the youth organization which allow me to lead the youth and be apart of their spiritual education. I also had a calling as a technology specialist where is was in charge of all of the technology that was in the church. That was a lot of fun because when people would have problems with the technology they needed they could come to me and I could provide the help they needed. In my ward, we have a smaller amount of young men so when I was a priest, I had the opportunity to bless the sacrament each and every week. That was awesome because I know I was magnifying the priesthood in which the Lord has trusted me with. I also did a lot of home teaching and reactivating in my ward. My father and I were home teaching companions for a long time and we would go monthly to teach our families in the church, as well as seek out those we had not seen in a while. We also would go as a priest quorum to reactivate which was very rewarding because we were able to build our quorum as we brought people back to church and see the happiness in their lives.
