Hi I'm Sydney

I grew up in Layton, Utah. I was raised in a family with 5 children and amazing parents. I am a mormon.

About Me

I was a cheerleader for six years, all through junior high and high school. I also enjoy playing volleyball as a hobby, fishing, camping, hiking, and pretty much anything else outdoors. Although, I'm also always up for a movie night inside. I'm a CNA at an Assisted Living home and I've been a tumbling and cheer coach for 3 years. I've never moved, except for when I've gone away to college. I've graduated with my associate's degree and plan to continue my education and go into Nursing. However, before I do that, I'm off to serve a mission and teach the people of Tacoma, Washington.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and started my testimony from my parents. When I graduated high school, I moved away to go to college at SUU; this is when the true test of how I was going to live my life came. I no longer had my parents right there with me to lean on every moment, to make me go to church and seminary, to give me a curfew or watch who I would be spending my time with. I could have done whatever I wanted. Knowing this, I realized and knew that the only thing I wanted to do was to continue living righteously in the path to my Father in Heaven. Going to church on Sundays wasn't just the thing to do, it was what I desired and needed. Attending Institute helped me to keep that Spirit in my life daily. I looked for every opportunity I had to serve others and took it. I've been happy with this life. Granted, I'm not perfect; I've made a lot of mistakes, ones that I'm not very proud of. I've fallen off the path and I've been scared. But, I got back on it. It took a lot, a long time, a year of my life was devoted to doing better and getting back on the path. I'd fall again, and pick myself up again, and I'm most definitely not done. It's been hard, but I can feel that the Lord has been with me every step of the way. I can feel His love for me and I know that He loves each and every single one of His children. I know with all my heart that this is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel it as I live it daily.

How I live my faith

Growing up in the church, I've always attended my church meetings on Sundays. Throughout school, I've taken time out to attend seminary and institute, gospel classes that are taught at schools. I've been able to serve as the President of my 3 classes in church growing up. Once I left and went to college, I had the opportunity to serve on the Family Home Evening Committee, planning activities for members and non-members to attend and have some fun. I also had the chance to serve as a teacher in Relief Society, teaching girls of my age a lesson of the Gospel every Sunday. I try and take every opportunity I have to serve others and help wherever I am needed.
