Hi I'm Rachel Hinckley

I am a student at BYU-Idaho. I love to explore the outdoors and cook food. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am from the beautiful province of Alberta. I love to spend time in the outdoors. Hiking is by far my favorite activity, but skiing would place as a close second. Not only do these activities encourage an active lifestyle, they also remind me of the love that God, our Heavenly Father, has for us. When I look at the snow covered mountains or the lush green trees I cannot help but think that God must love us an awful lot if He took the time to make all of these creations for the world which we live in. Anyway, I currently attend Brigham Young University- Idaho and have a great love for learning. I'm majoring in Health Sciences but continue to study many other subjects. I am also a frequent visitor of the library. I can sit there for hours and hours just reading my textbooks. I absolutely love to cook, but you should probably know that I have a tendency to burn something every once in a while- just ask my roommates. On more than one occasion I have filled our whole apartment with black smoke. I guess I consider myself a chef in progress but I hope that one day I will eventually master such a handy skill.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the joy that comes from studying the Book of Mormon daily and attending church. These activities have helped me to bring spiritual enlightenment into every day of the week. The principles taught within this church have helped me to understand where I came from, where I am going, and my individual purpose here on earth. Knowing that I am a child of God encourages me to reach for my full potential- in all aspects of my life. I love the greater perspective that I have gained as I have studied the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by speaking to God, our Heavenly Father, each day through prayer. Although prayer may seem like such a small act, I know that it plays a great role in developing our relationship with God. I know that He wants to hear from us and will always answer our prayers. In a few months I will be serving as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California, Long Beach Mission. At this time I will set aside the pursuit of my education and spend every second of the day sharing the knowledge that God loves His children and that families can live together forever. I will devote my time to testifying of Jesus Christ, who is our brother and also our Savior.
