Hi I'm Zachary Griffin

I grew up in Vancouver Washington my whole life. I love playing music and sharing it with others. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I've played piano since I was 8; at my own baptism was the first time I played for people. It was great! I also took up percussion or drums. 8 years of practice allowed me to help others learn, like how I did. I mentored students, like me to become better and their achieve goals. I helped to raise money for a local NICU in my hometown for 3 years, raising over $150,000. I find hope and happiness through service, sacrifice, and inspiring other people. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of service. He knows our desires and struggles, and he always finds a way to help us, even carry us if needed to get us to where we belong.

Why I am a Mormon

I am the typical mormon, but my journal is atypical. For the longest time, I went through the motions of life. Life got hard. My mother was diagnosed with a severe condition, causing her to have multiple trips to the hospital to being bedridden for many years to having lasting effects. I could have been angry at God: "Why her?" "She didn't do anything wrong" to looking inward to "What did I do wrong?". One day, I remembered that trials happen to make us better from my lessons at church. I don't really know why I choose to follow this principle, but I did. One could call it a leap of faith - I've had a few leaps of faith in my lifetime. Since then, my mother has almost fully overcome her difficulties many years later, being an answer to my prayers. I don't know where I would be if I didn't choose to look forward, finding some kind of hope and it was in Christ. I learned to always be positive, even in the worst of situations. It took another leap of faith. I slowly swept back into a gloomy dip. I didn't know where to go. Schooling got hard and life got difficult again, this time my own choices made it hard for me. It came for me to a fork in the road, a choice of being two very different people. I knew what Heavenly Father would want me to do. It took another leap to keep following the Savior. It is our choice. I know I made the right choice. I feel so much happiness everyday because of it. Heavenly father gives us agency to choose for ourselves. Just like how we can't force other people to choose, he doesn't force us. He has an endless love, even when we make wrong choices. I found a replenished hope again. Since a few years from this experience, I know that the Church of Jesus Christ is true. I believe in God. I feel happiness through being forgiven for my wrong choices and looking forward with a hope in Christ always. We can find hope in any struggle; its the matter of who would will choose to follow; God or man? Christ is always the best way

How I live my faith

For the last 6 months, I've helped special needs kids every week. They have precious souls; the finest salts of the sea and they are priceless treasures of the earth. Me and other youth my age would help them with activities like crafts to making food to playing games each week; simple things, but huge in their eyes. My favorite part is seeing the excitement on each one of their faces as they walk in and how much they want to be there. I have grown incredibly by learning to have more patience and love for all. I now have confidence to be a friend to any special needs kid. Many feel not noticed by others and I want to change that. Jesus Christ has the same love for everyone. He knows our desires and sees beyond our limitations to our eternal potential and bestows endless love upon us; he does so perfectly.
