Hi I'm Emry

I grew up all over the Western United States and Northern Mexico. Music is my passion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of five girls--I don't have any brothers! As a result of being the oldest sibling, I learned valuable lessons about responsibility and selfless service. My little sisters are wise beyond their years, and are constantly teaching me humility. I'm a college student pursuing a degree in music education. I have loved to sing and play throughout all of my life. Music brings me great joy, and I love to share that happiness with others. That is why I want to be a teacher. Even though I don't consider myself an athlete, I love to play basketball, run and hike. Going out into nature helps me appreciate this wonderful planet we all live on!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born and raised in a Mormon family that is religiously active, it was a personal choice for me to believe in Jesus Christ and His gospel. Every time I pray to God to know if this church teaches the truth, He answers me with a resounding "yes!". Living the gospel of Jesus Christ brings me so much joy! My life is always best when I am living the way I should. Throughout all of my questions, doubts, and concerns, this church has always held the perfect answers for me. I know for myself that God and Jesus Christ are both real, and that they love us so much. They are aware of us and our needs. They want to bless us. I know that that they speak to us through the Holy Ghost, who speaks to us in our hearts and in our minds. I know that God sent Joseph Smith to restore the full gospel of Jesus Christ upon the Earth, and that this church is the product of that work. I know that the Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon, and that it is a true book. Alongside the Bible, it is the word of God. I know that following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ will lead to unimaginable happiness in this life and in the life to come.

How I live my faith

Because of my musical background, I often volunteer my time and talent at church. I have conducted choirs, as well as played organ and piano. Music is a beautiful way to invite the Spirit of God into our hearts. During church, I have taught lessons to young children, between the ages of 4 and 8. I also teach classes to women my age. I work hard to be the same person in church and outside of it. I hope that my actions--no matter where I am--are a witness of my faith in God.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Have you ever found a recipe that makes really good food? Once you have made your discovery, what do you do? You share what you made with everyone you know! Mormon missionaries have already discovered the "recipe to happiness", which is the gospel of Jesus Christ. They have tasted of its fruit, and felt the peace that it brings. Once they have felt this joy, they have a desire to share the message of God's love with everyone they meet. So, they proselyte to help people receive the same happiness. Show more Show less
