Hi I'm Paxton Merrill

I have grown up in Hooper, Utah. I have loved and played football my entire life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old and have just graduated from high school. I played football and was the captain of the high school team, I will also continue playing football at Snow College when I return from my LDS mission. I love to hunt, fish, and enjoy sharing time with my family in the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints brings me true joy. It has allowed me to follow the example of my Savior with the many friends that are my brothers and sisters in the gospel. The foundation of my testimony is that Jesus Christ truly lives and he loves each one of us as individuals. I know that he atoned for the sins of all mankind, for you and for me. He did this out of love for his Father in Heaven as well as for the love he has for each of us. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, it was prepared for these latter-days to offer us guidance and teachings, to bear testimony that Jesus is the Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, he truly saw God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. Of this experience the prophet said, "I saw a pillar of light, exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spoke unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other, this is my beloved Son, hear him." I know this to be true, and I know the Prophet Joseph received revelation from God that allowed him to translate the Book of Mormon and restore the true church upon this earth once more. I know with every fiber of my being that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live, they love me, and they love you.

How I live my faith

I have served as the vice-president of my high school seminary where I was taught to truly care for other people, and learn how I can help others. I currently serve as a home-teacher and love the relationships that this has brought, I have gained strong new friends from home-teaching. Being only 18 the people I home-teach are older then myself. They have really taken me in as someone they look after and care for. I have also been called to serve as a full time missionary in the Spain Barcelona Mission.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Paxton Merrill
Though we are not required to serve a mission, many members, including myself, choose to serve our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ out of love and obedience. My Heavenly Father has given me everything that I am, It is my privilege to dedicate two years of everything I am to him. Show more Show less
