Hi I'm Allison Schmutz

I'm a daughter. I'm a sister. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my freshman year of college and absolutely loved it. Being there allowed me to realize how much I love helping and serving others. I volunteered at the local hospital while there and got to see some incredible things. I am now serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for year and a half and love to share the gospel with others!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. However, this does not mean I am not a convert. Growing up, I kind of just leaned on my parents testimony. I knew that the gospel was true, but I didn't exactly have a testimony of my own. I can't quite pinpoint a time when all of a sudden I had my own testimony, but I know there were multiple experiences throughout my youth that allowed it to grow. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith translated it. I know without him, we wouldn't have the gospel here on the earth today. I can't imagine all of the hard ships he had to go through to remain faithful as he translated the Book of Mormon and lead the Saints to the promised land. I know it was only possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He knew exactly what Joseph Smith was feeling and was able to help him get through the hard times and accomplish the tough tasks at hand. I know that through the Atonement, we can be comforted and will be able to make it through hard times just like Joseph Smith did. I also know that because of the Atonement, we can repent of the sins we have made. None of us are perfect and will all make mistakes. Luckily, we can be washed clean and Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will not remember them if we truly repent. Because of this knowledge, I don't know where I would be without the gospel in my life, because it is truly my foundation. I love the opportunity I have to share the truthfulness to others as they come to understand the gospel for themselves.

How I live my faith

Before waiting to serve my mission, I was a ward mission leader. I worked with the missionaries in our ward to more effectively serve those in our ward. In my ward at college, I was part of the compassionate service committee. In this calling, we looked for ways to help people who were in need in our ward. This helped me have more love towards others as I looked for ways to serve them. Even though I don't have this calling anymore, I still try to see when others are in need and do something to make their day just a little bit better.
