Hi I'm Melissa

I've had a pretty normal, happy life. I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm a Mormon

About Me

Hey everybody! I am a Mormon as you can tell from the website, but I'm not just a Mormon. I also am an avid yogi (person who love/practices yoga) so namaste. I enjoy running, hiking, and literally all forms of exercise. I'm very into health foods so that may or may not be a deal breaker as it can get a lil' annoying. I am also a college student. I have just finished my first year at college where I was studying Biology. I want to eventually become a doctor and go into medical research.Because let's be honest who doesn't want to discover the cure to some obscure disease!? Right now though I am taking time off from college to be a missionary for the Church and loving every minute of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, I know, not exactly the coolest conversion story, and was baptized when I was eight. I can't tell you how many times I have read the Book of Mormon, praying to know that this church was true and I can't tell you the exact moment that I knew because for me, my conversion was and still is a gradual process. Every time I attended church, read my scriptures, said my prayers, and followed the commandments I gained a little bit of knowledge about the gospel. I am constantly growing and learning new things, just as my testimony is constantly growing. I can't tell you when I received my testimony, only because everyday that I live my life according to the gospel I find a new one.

How I live my faith

So at the moment I am serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the official name of the Mormon church. This means that I leave my family for a period of 18 months and serve wherever the head of the Church calls me. Once I'm there I dedicate all of my time and efforts towards teaching people the gospel. Because I am in a temple mission I don't go proselyting (knocking on doors) like most other missionaries. Instead, I work in my assigned temple's visitor center and give people tours. I get to teach people from all over the world and walk them around the temple grounds.
