Hi I'm Dan Leister

I grew up in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania as a Roman Catholic and I am grateful for all the Church has taught me about my Savior.

About Me

I am the second son of an Italian mother and a German father and I was raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. I attended Catholic Church through my middle teens and attended Catholic School through the 9th grade. I no longer live in Pittsburgh but I am still a big Steelers and Pirates fan. My brother and I spent many nights listening to ball games. I worked around the country for about 7 years and I was transferred to the Wild West for a construction project. I loved the skiing and fishing so I stayed. I married and had 3 children, became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and then was later divorced. I worked in construction for 40 years and just recently retired. I am married to a lovely Danish gal and we now have an expanded family of Grandkids and Great Grandkids. We will soon depart for a mission to Australia where we will serve for 18 months helping the work of the Lord to move forward.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church. I have studied, observed and prayed about it for a long time and used the admonition of Matthew that "Ye shall know them by their fruits", to help me to come to that conclusion. I did not do it in a rush of inspiration but by the soft whisperings of the Spirit, that the people, leaders and doctrines of the Church are of God. I have grown greatly in my strength, knowledge and love of my Savior from just the everyday, bit by bit, following of the teachings of His Church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being the best citizen, church member, neighbor and friend that I can be. I have been a cub scout and boy scout leader. I have been a Lions club president and long time member, a Little League coach and a soccer referee. I have held many church callings and I try to volunteer for clean up, choir and humanitarian projects. Being self sufficient and taking care of myself and my family can make them and myself better individuals. My faith is important and must be nurtured to grow and I hope I am doing that.
