Hi I'm Tom

I'm a Mormon, an educator and nearing my 82nd birthday. I have developed and am managing property.

About Me

I was baptized into the Mormon Church November 3, 1956. Almost immediately I began organizing my genea logy. What a thrill to see pictures of my Great Great Grandparents and receive insight to the important details of their lives. Some of my lines have been traced into the 1500 hundreds. I am a Great Grandfather. My professional service was rendered in elementary, secondary and collegiate education, retiring early as a superintendent of schools. The second half of my career was spent developing and managing property.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up following my ancestors in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a teenager I received no spiritual strength from my activity. While in the military service I spent 2/3 of my time in East Africa. It was there I met a handful of unmarried young men who belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I wanted to know more about them and listened to their teachings. I was quite interested in what they had to say, but decided in addition to their teachings I would do my own investigation. I read from many different sources, including the Reorganized Church. Better than a year later with sincere prayer and much study I was blessed with the Gift of the Holy Ghost. I not only felt the influence of the Holy Ghost but the concerns and questions hanging in my mind were answered for me. I was to join the church, complete my degree at Brigham Young University(I had previously finished two years at another institution), marry there and teach. My baptism in the Red Sea is just one of the many steps of faith I have taken on that narrow path leading back to the presence of Heavenly Father and gain my full inheritance in His Kingdom. The Holy Ghost is operational in many of the things I do and plan. While I have experienced some bumps on the path, life has been full of joy and happiness. These are some of the things I have come to know: God lives and loves his children; He has a consistent plan, laid out in our first estate that, if followed, will bring us back home; all things are done by and through His Son, Jesus Christ, who also loves us; Neither our Father or Brother expects perfection from us; the mistakes we make are covered by the mercy of our Brother's atonement; as we repent the mistakes are erased from our record; for that to happen we must follow Christ, keep his commandments which are to have faith, repent, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost and endure to the end. This is my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

How I live my faith

I served on the Economic Development Committee of our city and then chaired the county committee. I have taught both the youth and adults in Sunday school. I served as a scout master in an american unit of East Africa. I have been an administrator in several church units. For many years I was a member of one of the largest Pageants of the world. I love working in the Temple one day a week. I am currently serving as a home teacher and have done so for nearly 60 years. I have been called to two service missions and will soon embark on a full time mission outside of my state. I support financially and otherwise the building of God's Kingdom. I gladly contribute to the welfare of the distressed throughout the world. I believe that when you are in the service of your fellow mankind, you are in the service of your Lord.
