Hi I'm Elyssa

I was born and raised in Utah. I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (AKA "Mormons").

About Me

I just finished my first year of college and now I am preparing to serve a LDS mission. I have not declared a major yet because I have too many interests. I love cake decorating, cooking, photography, music, sports, math, and crafts. Even though I am terrified of heights, I love flying in planes and traveling to new places.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and I was baptized when I was 8 years old. As I got older, I stopped attending church because I wanted to stay home or hang out with friends. In middle school, my friends were starting to go down a path that I knew wasn't right and a path that I didn't really want to take. I began to be really confused. Luckily, I was able to meet some new people, and we became friends instantly. These new friends were members of the church, and I saw in them something that I was missing. They were very kind and helped me start attending church again by being good examples. Because of my friends, I have purpose and direction in my life, and I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know, love, guide, and help me. Also, I have the strength and courage I need to get through the difficult trials that have been placed in my life. I know that each trial is placed in my life for a reason to help me learn, grow, and become more like my Savior. Because of the help from my friends, I am now preparing to serve a mission to help others come unto Christ so they can experience the love, peace, and comfort that comes when we accept Christ's invitation to come follow Him.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday I wake up and get ready for church, where I attend my meetings. I am able to be uplifted by others as well as uplift others as thoughts and feelings are shared. However, I do not just live my faith on Sundays. I live my faith everyday. I try to be a representative of my Savior, Jesus Christ, in all that I do. I try my best to help others when they are confused, upset, sick, lonely, etc.
